If us nurses could invent something, what would we choose?

Published

I'm currently in school working on my BSN. For one of my classes I was asked to come up with an invention, and I wanted to make it medical related since I am a nurse. I know we've all said 100 times, "I wish we had this", or "I wish we had that". So, what could we invent to make our job easier and a time saver for us?

A single streamlined form with one SINGLE phone number to call to get a patient who has been involuntarily committed (IVC) in the ER a bed in a psychiatric hospital somewhere. This would be a wonderful invention indeed.

A Glucometer that takes the reading by scanning the patient's vein.

A pop up tape dispenser like they have for Scotch tape.

An IV pump with verbal controls for the alarms, so I can tell it to SHUT UP from across the room.

I thought about inventing a pill that cures a hangover. We all know that hangovers are electrolyte imbalances so why isn't their a pill that quickly replenishes them? Just take with a 8oz glass of water and viola! And add a little ibuprofen to it as well for the headache.

Hangovers happen because you (or the hungover person) is experiencing withdrawal.

however if u drink gatorade and take a multivitalmin before drinking and drink gatorade after drinking u'll feel great

How is the hydration pill going to work? By stimulating the cells to release water?
