Just wondering which one you thought was harder? I took HESI exit and made a 986 and 850 is passing. They say it means there is a 99% chance I will pass NCLEX but I am still worried about it. IF you have taken both in the last couple of months will you please give me some insight on this subject.

my hesi score was 947 and i had taken that back in mid-march. i just took my nclex exam on saturday and i'm pretty much numb waiting for the results.

i went into hesi with low expectations since i had not done too much to prepare for the exam. the few tests that i was able to get done at home wer scoring in the 50's and 60's. for the nclex exam, i prepared by attending the hurst review, studying that material, doing some questions...

[color=#2f4f4f]so ultimately, i felt that the two exams were similar. i could always narrow it down to two answers and pray for the best. i must say though that i had seventeen sata questions on boards and i don't think that hesi has any of those or maybe just a couple. from reading the various posts, it feels like the sata questions are becoming more previlant in the nclex exam.

[color=#2f4f4f]however, if i found that i failed boards, then maybe i won't feel that the exams were similar!:grn:

I havent taken boards yet, but I've heard that the HESI is harder. But my gosh I hope so, the HESI I took was so ******* hard!!! I was sweating the whole way through it... Of course the HESI score was 70% of our grade!!

I definately thought HESI was easier then NCLEX. I scored well on all the HESI's in school without studying. I studied for NCLEX for about 2 weeks, over 3000 practice questions and some review. I just took NCLEX yesterday and found out I passed but I found it very difficult. I had 75 questions and I would guess at least 1/3 of them were "select all that apply". This unnerved me a bit as during my practice tests I never had great success with these. I figure some of them were the "test" questions they put in the test and were not graded.

70%???? That is crazy. What about your clinical, projects, other tests???

Yep, 70%. Thank goodness I made a 946 which equaled a 94.6 for that 70%. It was during our last semester so the only thing big we had that semester was preceptorship (240 hrs, sheesh) and a few seminars and a couple papers, which made up the other 30%. So needless to say I slacked off on the other 30% and still made an A that semester! It was my first 4.0 all my college years... Although it was only one grade! haha

This is a great thread. Wish there was more input. I took the Hesi and scored 960 the first try. We needed an 850 to pass our last semester. I took my NCLEX today and I am not feeling very confident. I can't find out soon enough. I am really worried about all the feedback I'm hearing that people got a lot of Select All That Apply, because I only had 2. I wonder if it means I was doing that badly....???

I got a 950 or something like that on my exit HESI. We were required to score 850 or better or we failed our last semester despite the fact that we'd passed all our classes and clinicals. I thought HESI was hard as heck, and I still fell as if it was impossible to study for. On the other hand, most of the questions on NCLEX were super vague, and because my livelihood depended on the outcome of the test it was harder than HESI to deal with.

OK I am getting a little worried here. Acutally a little more than worried...

I did not study for HESI and pulled an 986 and thought I had failed it the entire way through. I did not and have never (until now) had test anxiety. I had the flu the week before HESI and am not really that into studying vast quantities of info about 100 different subjects anyway. My problem is that I take NCLEX on Monday and am just overwhelmed.

I tried to look over some stuff I don't feel that confident about and have now resorted to just doing questions because I would start crying and getting WAY freaked out. I didn't have money for a review course but have the Kaplan strategies book and did read it. Some days I feel very confident because I am scoring well on the tests and answering most of them right and some days I am getting really low scores. Also I have found that as I study the different "brands" (Saunders, Mosbys, Kaplan) of NCLEX questions I realize that some "brands" are harder than others. I feel like an IDIOT! I am getting so worried that I will not be able to remember the content. Does anyone else have this problem? It's really freaking me out and I feel so sorry now for the people that have test anxiety before EVERY test.

Just relax, really. Part of it is staying calm and knowing that you can pass. YOu got through nursing school and scored well on HESI. You know your stuff. I did not take a review course either. I think looking at too many different sources makes it too overwhelming. Pick one and just do questions adn review any content you are getting questions wrong. Since you are taking it mon I wouldn't try to do too much. I would take practice tests each day and take Sun off. It is not a content based test. It is a competency test and you need to know general nursing practice stuff. it isn't like you have to memorize a bunch of stuff. YOu will be fine. Take a deep breath and have confidence.
