IELTS UKVI, CBT Exam (UK)

Published

Hi guys,

I am struggling with what to say here. I'm actually asking for some answers. I tried the CBT exam under Children's nursing and I failed terribly.. although the exam was not that bad in my opinion, maybe it was not meant for me. Anyways, I'm eligible to take the CBT Exam again after 6 months, that would be this February 2016 and I'm wondering whether I still have to take the UKVI for the one I took when I applied to NMC was the regular academic IELTS.. although I heard that if I would take the UKVI, I will only need to score 5 or something for I already had my all 7 scores in my ielts exam (the regular one).

So, any ideas or thoughts on this? I would really appreciate it.

It would really help with answers if you could tell us what all of those acronyms mean. Your post reads like a foreign language to me since I don't know what any of them mean!

IELTS means International English Language Testing System, CBT means Computer Based Test and UKVI means United Kingdom Visas and Immigration.. All of these exams are needed if one is interested to work in UK.

There are a multitude of threads in the world nursing section under nurse registration discussing the registration requirements of the NMC for IEN. And several threads regarding immigration and visas under immigration advice. Most of the threads in the general forum are geared towards nurses studying, living & working in North America

Hi! Anyone here who knows which type of IELTS to take for the NMC Registration - IELTS Academic or IELTS for UKVI? Appreciate your feedback. Thank you! í ½í¸Š

I actually took the regular IELTS for my registration to UK. There isnt so much different between the two as UKVI uses a camera to record your speaking exams and is much more expensive than the regular one. Better take the regular though.

Thanks Andrei! I am just a bit confused. I thought they require the UKVI type which took effect this Nov 2015. Am not really sure. When did you take your IELTS?

You need to take UKVI for nmc and visa purposes, but if you just need it for nmc registration, the regular will do.

Thank you, Malakite. Everything's clear now. God bless!

Hi! I actually took both regular and UKVI IELTS and both results are different. The regular one reached 7.0 across all areas but the UKVI one I got a 6.5 in writing. Should I need to retake the UKVI as I am about to process the visa?

Hi Andrei,

When did you take your regular IETLS? I actually heard that once you got all 7 in your regular IETLS, you just need to score 5 or 6 in your UKVI exam.
