hello. can anyone please help me out with this?
i know its true that the IELTS and CGFNS will expire if you don't take one within two years of the other, but is it true that
the IELTS will expire if you are not granted a visa screen certificate within two years, and you have to take it again?
i have tried browsing through their site, but i can't seem to find the answer.

The IELTS exam result expires in 2 years. It will be indicated so. You will have to use it on whatever purpose it may serve within that time.
okaaaaaaaaaaayy..
but if ever this unfortunately happens, it wouldn't affect the CGFNS exam at all, would it?

The CGFNS exam per se, no but you would have to furnish them a new IELTS exam result if it expired before you passed the CGFNS exam.
You may want to consider taking the IELTS after passing the CGFNS exam if you want to be safe. Registering for an IELTS exam in Manila and sending the results to CGFNS is relatively quick and hassle-free anyway, so you can do this last.

Do IELTS results expire?
No. The TRF – Test Report Form - only shows the date when the test was taken. The institution requiring IELTS has the right to set up a period of time in which the results may be accepted. There is a general rule which recommends that any proficiency test should be accepted during two years of having passed the exam.
The IELTS results should not be more than 2 years old. The thread starter is asking if what if it has been 2 years old and he hasn't passed the CGFNS exam both of w/c are required to complete the CGFNS Certification he plans to undergo.
And it is the agency (in this case - CGFNS) who is asking for the requirement that sets the time period of 2 years.
A person who has completed the CGFNS certification and/or the Visa Screen Certification already need not worry about the 2 year validity since it has been completed already.
However, if an applicant who has given the TRF from IELTS to CGFNS (for the CGFNS Certification) or ICHP ( for the VSC Certification) and could not complete the Certifications because he or she cannot pass either the CGFNS Exam or the NCLEX exam for completion w/in the 2 years validity that CGFNS/ICHP has set, then he or she has to give them a new one.
You can refer to CGFNS' Handbook for their CGFNS Certification on page 12. It would be the same procedure for Visa Screen certification.

In you want additional information about IELTS, I recommend visiting either IDP's website or the British council in the Philippines.

okay, first off, i would like to apologize for the vagueness of my questions. i regrettably haven't made myself clear enough, but this actually is the situation: i have taken and passed both the CGFNS and the IELTS exams (both in 2006). i have with me my CGFNS certificate verifying such. the thing is, i have not applied yet for a visa screen cerftificate, and i won't be applying for it anytime soon. i heard something about ielts exam results expiring if the holder is not granted a visa screen certificate within 2 years of passing the exam. that is what worries me.
so, at the risk of sounding stupid (and i apologize in advance), i need the answer to be spelled out. in my case, if i still won't be able to obtain the visa screen certificate within 2008, will my IELTS results expire?
sorry, guys, i just don't know who else to ask..
thanks a lot.
(by the way, i tried the above link, and it said "page cannot be found".. any other CGFNS link?)

here you go, Yes it states 2 years from date tested as being valid, Once you have VSC it is valid for 5 years http://www.cgfns.org/files/pdf/req/vs-requirements.pdf
I just edited the link in my post. You can try it again. If that still doesn't work you can always go to the main website http://www.cgfns.org and download the handbook for CGFNS Certification or the handbook for the VSC.

To get a VISA Screen Certificate you need to pass both CGFNS or NCLEX and an English Proficiency Test (IELTS or TOEFL). Once you have the VSC it's valid for 5 years.
If your IELTS expired and you haven't applied for the VSC yet, I think you have to retake the test. So it's best to get things moving before time runs out!
