IDPH Rural health scholarship?

Published

has anyone else applied for this scholarship? or has anyone already received this scholarship? I sent my application in for this year but my efc is over 16k, i was just wondering what my chances might be to receive something. i wouldn't have applied for it if i didn't need it so bad. there's no way we can pay 16 k, i have 4 kids and our financial situation has changed tremendously (husband lost job).

any info you might have would be great!!

thanks

I was told by them candidates are selected by lowest EFC (mine is 180) and highest GPA. ..... anyone who recieved it...can you PLEASE tell me what your EFV & GPA were? thanks!!!!!!!!!!

what was your EFC?

hey i dont mean to sound greedy but how much is the stipend check because hrsa has a great nursing scholarship program that pays a stipend of 1500 a month and i plan on quiting my job when i start nursing school.

I just got my rejection email as well . I dont know how am I going to pay for the $1,000 in books that I need :crying2:

I just got my rejection email today as well! I am lucky to have all my tuition and books covered, but I have nothing left over for supplies. I do work full time, but I solely support a family of 3 and most often only bring home enough to pay the bills and put food on the table, with no extras. The extra money from scholarships would have been nice to help with the living expenses during school. Especially if it ends up that I have to cut my hours back in order to do better in school. It really sucks, I didn't get any scholarships through my school either. But, I am keeping my chin up and applying for other scholarships. I don't know if any of you know about it, but there is a site(fastweb.com) that will take your demographics and other things and sort out any scholarships you may be eligible for and gives you the links. If you haven't tried it, its worth a shot! Good luck to everyone in your nursing school career!!

I received my rejection email too! This economy sucks funding for a lot of scholarships has been cut this year.. I guess I have to work full time and go to school. Good luck everyone

I called today and I was selected for the scholarship. Rejection letters, 900, were mailed last week. Also, IDPH wanted to submit 100 scholarships and unfortunately only the top 20 were selected due to limited funding.

By no means am I saying I am a top student; I was extremely blessed because I recv. NO FINANCIAL AID. My school doesn't permit student loans. I am extremely grateful. I hope there is more funding next year. Best wishes to all nursing students.

I received it for 2009 and 2010. My gpa was 3.7 and my EFC was 0.
