ICU interview--what do they really ask?

Published

Hi everyone.

I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there who has recently been interviewed for the ICU department or a step down.

I'm planning to apply for those departments and I just want to know what kind of questions they might ask.

I'm actually going to apply to Kaiser Permanente's ICU department.

thanks!

I was a new grad and I answered: "I would like to be the small fish in a big pond because I would have lots of room to grow." Kinda cheesy but after talking with others I think it might have been a good answer. Anyway I did get the job then so who knows.

That's the first answer that came to my mind, too :yeah:

just curious :) so how did you respond to the questions:

tell me when you went above and beyond and how you made a difference in a patient's outcome?

enter text here.give an example of a really sick patient you took care of, what the problems were, how you handled them/prioritized, and how it turned out.

During my recent ICU interview, I was asked what do I expect from their unit. And they also asked general interview quenstions like how do i see myself in 5 yrs, what would other ppl describe my personality, what is my working style, how will I handle the conflict and so on.. was really focused on advancing my career and encouraged me to go for CCRN..
