I went to a Florida nursing school

I went to a nursing school in Miami Florida that is approved by the Florida board of nursing. I took my RNnclex on April 1, 2023 and have yet to receive my license. I contacted the New YORK board of nursing and the response I received was " Unfortunately the school you attended is listed on the Florida DOH website as non-accredited, a supervisor is looking into this matter. Does this mean I won't get a license to practice in NY.

@ Humble Angel

When did you get your score report sent over was it this year?

So they are allowing us to have our score sent to Florida but only Florida?

Whereever you request them, I requested for Florida, so they sent it there

That is great news, and I am happy you got through.

Did you call them or did you fill out the verification form on their site and pay $20.00 to have it sent to FBON?

Thanks so much ?

thank you so much, yes I filled the verification application on their site, it was 10 dollars, and filled the application form to send it to Florida, and just now I asked them If I can transfer Florida license back to NY, as I reside here, they said no, we just released your score and your file in Ny is on hold , so u would not be able to transfer your license back to NY. kind of tricky situation and now I am thinking what can I do with this FL license, because to work in NY u have to have a here license.

I think you should apply for a compact license in Florida and work in New Jersey because they are a compact state, and when NYC becomes a compact state, you can work in NY. NYC is pending to become a compact state.

what school did you go to?

When the NY will become a compact ,any idea?

You cannot hold a compact license unless your primary state of residence is a compact state.

I live in a noncompact state. How do I get a compact multistate license?

Only nurses who declare a compact state as their primary state of residence may be eligible for a multistate license. As a resident of a noncompact state, you may apply for a license by endorsement in a compact state. Your eligibility will be limited to a single-state license that is valid in that state only. Residents of noncompact states can have as many single-state licenses as they wish.

What does Primary State of Residence (PSOR) mean?

For compact purposes, PSOR is not related to property ownership in a state. It's about your legal residency status. Everyone has legal documents such as a driver's license, voter's card, federal income tax return, military form no. 2058 or W2 form from the PSOR. If a nurse's PSOR is a compact state, that nurse may be eligible for a multistate (compact) license. If a nurse cannot declare a compact state as their PSOR, that nurse is not eligible for a compact license. They may apply for a single-state license in any state where they wish to practice.

NLC FAQs

thank you, now I need to get admission in FNP program, so I have look around, there are programs which were waiting for my license, but I am now thinking to start some job on Florida license remotely if possible to save 40k for my masters FNP tution fee, or I have to go for some private loan, as I m not eligible for federal scholarship.
