Hello everyone, I'm currently in UK but it has always been my desire to work in California. Can anybody offer an advice where to begin? I would sincerely appreciate any help.
I recently passed the NCLEX, so I'm really looking forward to having a new nursing experience in my chosen state. Cheers.

You mentioned passing the NCLEX, I assume this was in the state of California. If this is so, I would try local papers online for job leads. You can try latimes.com for the Los Angeles area and the San Francisco Chronicle online for the SF area. (Northern & southern are very different). Usually on their job postings they have a link to the human resources e mail for major hospitals, I would contact them & tell them your story (such as what dept interests you & your ETA).
I wish you the best of luck.

I'm still in UK and I took the exam in London. So basically I'm starting from scratch. I withdrew from my agency since they couldn't provide me a placement in California, and reading from the threads here, it seems wise to do it on your own and it could be a lot quicker too. Don't know if it's a wise decision but with everyone's help here, I guess I could make it there somehow.

Issue is petitioning by a hospital. US Immigration is involved for foreign nurses to work in the US.
After all the fuss, the agency informed me that I got an employer in California that's willing to wait for me .... that's quite a relief! So, I'm back with the original plan, just getting my paperworks done. Thank you all for your replies .
I just love allnurses.com!
