I want to SCREAM, no job yet!!

Published

Every single day since February 2014 I have applied for a nursing job. I have tried everything I can think of including just showing up at a facility and asking for the DNS. I applied online to a certain place, signed up for their talent network (that emailed me saying I was a match), and yes they accept new grads but nothing. What is it?! Who will say yes?! When will it happen?! I feel like I'm starting to forget my training( which is probably all in my head), but that's how I feel. I'm exhausted reading all the letter and emails of regret, but at this point in my life I just need a YES! I have been a CNA for 20 years and my body doesn't bounce back as fast as it did, but looks like that's the route I have to go just for some steady income.

Where do you live? I am in California and am amazed every job I look at is for an LVN ( I am an RN). Try agency work. I am doing it now and love it!

Have you tried flu shot clinics or something like that? Just to put on a resume and get your foot in the "nursing door"...

Try an agency. Its hard getting a facility job most times

Same thing is happening in Indiana. LPN's getting the cush "clinic jobs" because they cost less. I'm an RN, never thought I'd be scrambling for work.

Hi Charms,

You have my empathy!! I applied actively for at least 8 months to more than 60 positions! I had to enroll back in school just to be competitive here. Depending on your area, the market is really rough! I couldn't move either...

It's frustrating and tough, but keep applying. Something will come of it (hopefuller sooner vs later). Have someone review your resume, perhaps something could be changed on it to make you seem more marketable. Network, Network, Network. Good luck!
