First, I truly respect Nurses and I am in awe of how they can handle so much on a day to day .. Nurses are very smart and great multi-taskers
I have tried to talk myself into going back to school to become a Nurse and I can't do it. I work on the Nursing units everyday as a Clinical Documentation Specialist and the hard work involved in Nursing is unreal. 12 hr shifts and then overtime required in order to make the 60,000 plus salaries just doesn't seem worth it to me. Not to mention always watching your license from being taken etc etc.
Although I am 30 and have a family I think I would rather spend more time in school and become a Pharmacist or something that does not require such direct contact with people.. Good luck to all of you pursuing Nursing.
I am a true believer that nursing is a calling. If you do not have that "calling" being a nurse would be the most miserable job there is.
Slightly off topic, but I don't think nursing is any more a 'calling' than any other job. All jobs are important. And I don't know about yourself, but as much as I like computers I couldn't imagine sitting in front of one all day. Yet the people who do, help us to do our jobs, and in this case, help us with our pasttime as well. Many ppl are just as passionate about their jobs and how important they are...
OP, if you are lucky enough to see that, as much as you would like to do nursing, you don't think you could, then good for you. If pharmacy attracts you, then do look into it. Best of luck...

To stay off topic. I hope you don't think that I meant that nursing was more important than other jobs. I meant that nursing is something that has to be in you, something inside you "calls" to you to be a nurse. I totally agree with you that every job is important.
They say the average person changes profession 5 times in thier lifetime. I have to say I've done that plus a couple more. But, in my heart I always wanted to be a Nurse. Each job I've held has been important in one way or another. Nursing is a calling, just like becoming a Dr., priest, lawyer, hairdresser, baker, you name it. The bottom line is that you can find joy and satisfaction in any job you do, as long as you feel that it is what makes you happiest. (I'm talking happy out side of Home.) Good luck in finding that job that you look forward to going to.

It's a love/hate relationship... much like raising teenagers.
