So I took the nclex a week ago. But I want to start off with the beginning so... I was flipping out with anxiety a week prior. I knew i needed to stop studying right then and there... So I did. When the nclex came I was surprisingly calm. I went in thinking "I'm the boss I write my own future not this exam." So I start the exam and I hit 75 questions and I become dissappointed as I pass it... Now I'm at 120 questions which is the average questions someone takes on the nclex and I become nervous! But all I keep telling myself is "I'm still in the running if thy keep giving me questions. It just means I need two correct questions in a row Im boarder line Ashely just prove yourself" in the meantime I'm the last one in the room taking the nclex with my 2 breaks taken. My confidence is starting to run low and I'm starting to get frustrated with this said I just chant to myself .... "I'm still in the running if thy keep giving me questions. It just means I need two correct questions in a row Im boarder line Ashely just prove yourself"
omg im at 210 questions with only 30 mins remaining and I've been here taking this exam by myself for last 2 1/2 hrs. How is this possible I'm going to run out of time . Omg I'm done I fail is what is running threw my mind. I tell myself no way I've come to far im a b b+ Student this can't be right just keep strong. And the chant in my mind becomes stronger. "I'm still in the running if thy keep giving me questions. It just means I need two correct questions in a row Im boarder line Ashely just prove yourself" omg omg omg five mins and I'm at 241 ? This is terrible ! Only 2% run out of time how can I be in this percentage ????? Omg I have no chance ! No Ashely just go go go and I finish with 245 questions and run out of time.
The the rule with nclex if you run out of time is that the last 60 questions are counted if you go below the average once you fail.
Omg i failed is what's going threw my mind .
After 5 hours has passed by I gain the courage to do the Pearson vue trick and I get the good pop up !!!!
good news yessssss!
So 2 days later I pay the 8 dollars guess what ...
Oficially RN !
Dont give up... I created an account just to tell you guys this story. I have used this website religiously through out pre nursing school, nursing school, and nclex. And now I thought it was my time to write a post, since there was none like this out there.
Stay strong and carry on!

Congratulations!! You must be so excited and relieved. What resources did you use to study? Did you think NCLEX was harder/easier than you thought? What areas do recommend to study?
Congrats again!
Thanks for the reply !!!! I am super relieved I'm done with nclex !!! and super excited to start a position as an rn!
i graduated from trinitas school of nursing and I thought the exam was fair not hard not easy. But I'm going to tell you know that all the answers seemed so similar it was really hard to pick the BEST answer. I would quickly eliminate 2 answers and was always left with the other two to choose from.
I used the rutgers review course for the in person classes that my school offered for free after finishing the program and I also used the in demand kaplan course.
In my opinion they both high lighted nclex well. All the the info they stressed were on the exam and I would recommend both. ( they are both a drag though... Just gotta stick to them ) if I had to choose I would say kaplan on demand is better because they are more organized and stressed more material that was presented on my nclex.
Thank you so much Ashely for your advice and input. I really appreciate it! :)

Congratulations! I'm happy for you that even with running out of time, you still passed. That's encouraging to many others who may think that running out of time automatically means trouble. Good luck in your career as an RN. I'll be there January 2016....
Thank you! Stay strong and never give up (:

I ran out of time at 176 questions and was certain I failed. But I passed too! I don't know why the test kept going if I was at passing level for the last 60 questions! Just don't understand how that works. lol

Hi.. I just went through it today.. can I tell it's one of the excruciating feeling in my life. . I started of with good hard questions till 60 thought I started good down passed 75.. was thankful.. then got 100.. 140.. 180..200 time shut off.. My mind was exhaustion by the time I made it to 160... I'm so happy you passed regardless of it shutting off..
My question's were intense..I still haven't lost all hope.. just hope my mind didn't totally disconnect and can still gave a fighting chance for those last 60.If not.. I'll give myself a mental break and restart this journey with a better approach and not as emotionally drained as I felt.. congrats to all he Nurses and future Nurses pursuing their dreams. Thank you for the input and personal experiences.. Good night and be blessed

I felt the same way during my recent attempt. after 100 questions my mind started to get exhausted. During my studying i only did up to a 100 questions at a time. So when the computer kept giving me questions I started to ask myself *****! before I knew it as much as i tried not to look at the time i had 2 minutes left and I was on question 210 and then I click submit and i saw question 211 but didnt get a chance to answer it. i found myself rushing when I got to question 200, but then I started to slow down again but regardless of what I did apparently it didnt work cause I still failed. I plan on retaking it in March. Fingers crossed I hope it my last time. Those $200 are stating to add up. $1000 as of friday when I pay for my 5th attempt.
