I Think I'm Pregnant

Published

Hi Everyone,

I'm am just finishing up my third semester of nursing school (ADN program) and had a positive home pregnancy test this morning.

I have only two more clinical days left in the semester and was wondering if I should bring this up to my clinical instructor since it hasn't been confirmed with my doctor yet and I'm almost finished?

What would you guys do?

Thanks.

Shira

I don't see why it would need to be brought to their attention unless they try to place you with an unsafe patient. If you are worried about placement inform them asap.

No, you don't need to bring it up.

Personally if you only have 2 more clinical days the teacher you have now, won't be the one you need to talk to... your teachers next semester will be the ones to have that conversation with although you won't be giving birth until the summer of 2016 depending on when you conceived obviously but I say hang tight and get a doctors conformation before doing anything.

I wouldn't bring it up. Unless you wanted to, it's really no ones business... And unless advised by your doctor, there typically aren't any restrictions on what you can do.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I think I'm just feeling a little anxious about going to the hospital tomorrow. I've had unsuccessful pregnancies in the past and just really don't want anything to go wrong.

I wouldn't say anything unless you need light duty or something of that sorts. Congrats, hope all goes smooth with your pregnancy.

Good luck. I know how difficult pregnancies feel.

I unexpectedly found myself pregnant in my last semester. I probably wouldn't have brought it up at all, except that I developed horrible morning sickness, and when I needed to eat, I *really* needed to be able to eat.

So anyways, don't feel obligated to tell if you don't want to, especially with so little time left in the semester. But do look out for your needs.

I wouldn't say anything unless you have activity limitations or if you are assigned to a patient that you shouldn't take on during pregnancy.

Best wishes to mommy and baby!
