I have to take six science classes before my application is due in janurary! help !

Published

So I would like to apply to UT health in san antonio for fall 2013 entry, and I have to take

A & P 1

A & P 2

Chem 1

Chem 2

Microbiology

Nutrition

I have to take all six of these before the application is due, and the application is due january 10th.

Any ideas of how i could split up these classes with summer school and such? or should i just wait to apply for the spring semester on july 1?

thanks !

Are there any pre-reqs required for those courses? (e.g. have to complete Bio 101 & Chem 101 before A&P 1, Chem 2 before Nutrition, etc.)

Not sure if your school requires both Chems to be completed before attempting A&P. Your best bet is to schedule an appointment with an Advisor to plan your Summer, Fall & Winter/Spring semesters so you know you won't hit any snags. Course order is completely dependent upon your school's requirements.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I have to take 8 pre-reqs before I can apply in Jan 2013 for the Fall 2013 program. I'm doing 3 courses in the Summer & 5 in the Fall  (that emoticon is what I'll look like when I'm done in December...LOL)

I wouldn't attempt to take those classes in less than 3 semesters...so I would definitely wait to apply for spring semester. I'd do nutrition and chem 1 in the summer, chem 2 and A&P 1 in the fall, and A&P 2 and microbiology in the spring.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Well, it really depends on how strong a student you are and how much time and energy you have to dedicate to your studies. Finishing all that off by January would be a challenge but not an insurrmountable one. I took physiology, micro, and statistics in one semester and found it very manageable.

Only you can assess your readiness, ability, and availability.

I don't think it is impossible to get those done before January...but, I would definitely think long and hard about taking chemistry, A&P, and microbiology all in the same semester...which is the least you would have to do to finish before January...and that is if you took chemistry, A&P, and nutrition all in the summer..

I think you will be a better candidate if you take your time and do great in those classes instead of getting through them fast and maybe getting low grades. Of course we're all different, so if you feel confident you could ace all the classes if you took them together in a summer session, then go for it. But if you're working, have family obligations, or don't think you could handle it all at once, then don't do it.

If you do it, then you can probably take A&P 1, Chem 1, and Nutrition over a summer. Then A&P 2, Chem 2, and Micro during the fall. Assuming all those classes are offered at non-conflicting times.

Thank you guys for all the advice! I have decided to apply a semester late and take two sciences each in the three semesters !

Glad you made the best decision for you. I am taking micro, chem, and physio. I have a A in all subjects. It takes a fair amount of studying everyday but ok for me. I don't work but I have six kids and a hubby. I travel two hours to school and from school. Only we can determine our limits. Good luck with your journey!!
