Has anyone taken both a&p1 and a&p2 during the same semester? Do you recommend it?
I am planning to do this....
Please advise.
Thanks.

A lot of schools require A&P I as a prereq for enrolling in A&P II. I'm assuming you checked that out though.

The majority of nursing students I have spoken with have all said the same thing: "My school wont allow you to take them at the same time."
This is what I found to be true as well. This is because A&P II builds on what you learn in A&P I.
Good luck!

I really don't recommend it. A lot of things in A&P II make a lot more sense and are easier to learn and remember if you already understand the material from A&P I. For example, understanding the different types of tissue structures and functions will help you remember and understand why certain organs have certain tissues -- and how those tissues are important to the organs' function.
I suppose it's doable, but I think many students would feel overwhelmed.

They allow this at my school but I would still tell you don't because A&P II is applying what you learned in A&p I. I is memorization and II is application. I also found II to be alot harder. HTH!

I have seen a few people trying it at my school and they haven't done well. Both are tough classes and I think you need time to absorb the information. Besides, it's not like some classes where you can forget all you learned once you got the grade -- this is information you will be utilizing your entire nursing career!

I would not recommend it, particularly if you are taking other classes as well.

I'm actually going to do it AP1 & AP2 at the same time in Winter Term to bring my GPA up and so I have the maximum number of points when I apply into the program where I go to school. I was trying to juggle working /a lot/ and taking other classes the last two terms so I only got Bs in them. Yeah, I should've known better. I figure I'd do okay taking them together because I already took both classes and it'll just be a matter of reviewing along with managing my time better. Plus, I already have notes and flashcards so I don't have to worry about making any study tools, yay!
However, if your case is different from mine, I wouldn't recommend taking 1 and 2 together. They're already pretty hard on their own. Maybe you can do it if you weren't taking any other classes at all - even easy ones like Writing or Math. Good luck!

I think that largely depends on a lot of things..
1. the type of student you are
2. if you need a full time job
3. other commitments - kids
4. how your school teachers ap1/2
(at my school about 5 years ago (when my mom was in nursing =] ) they did ap1 as an intro to all the chapters then ap2 took it in detail. now, they simply split the book in half. either way, i would not recommend it because typically ap2 has a butload of physiology.

I am so glad you asked this because I've had the same question! I took both as a split session in 1997 and need to update them now. I don't think itd be easy but I think its do able!
