Hey everyone! This is only my second time posting, can't tell you what an inspiration you all are! Here's my question, I am on the wait list for fall quarter for A&P and microbiology. I am 4th on both lists, when it comes down to it, I can only take one at a time due too family, time restraints. Which one would you all suggest? Would A&P help in micro, or the other way around? Thanks for the help!

It's a horse a peice in my opinion. They both complement each other in terms of cell structure and function, different blood cells, immunity etc..

i think a&p helps with micro, but it isn't a necessity. Micro is less work inmho than A&P, so if fall is a busier time for you than micro is the way to go. However if you need to have both a&p sections completed before you are eligible for selection into you nursing program, then get started on the A&P because it is a year long class. Good luck with your decision and welcome to allnurses!

I would definately take A&P 1 this semester, so that you can take A&P 2 next semester. You need them both. During the summer take micro, you can even take it online, which I did it wasnt difficult. Rio Salado has online courses that start every 2 weeks. It works great when you have kids and/or time issues with work. I love online classes, I took Bio156, Micro, Patho, and some of the HCC classes online, You just have to be disciplined and self motivated, its easy to do really well, if you put in the time. I start RN program in less than a week, I cant wait!!! Good Luck Jennette:wink2:

Call me stupid...or crazy, your choice...but I did both in the same semester!! AND I was pregnant so you know I was a mess. But I pulled a B in both of them. But, if i had to take only 1, it would be A&P 1 so that way I could take A&P 2 the next semester with micro (or wait until the summer for micro) I found A&P 2 MUCH easier then 1. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!

At my school micro is the last science you could take because one compliments the other. Bio, Chem, A&PI, A&PII, Micro. Good luck to you. :)

i took A&P 1 with Chemistry. Lets not talk about chemistry. I think that is chinese for everyone. The next semester I took A&P2 with Micro and I took them both with the labs and a math class. I dont think micro helps too much with anatomy and the other way around. You have to study for both.I got all A's and 1 B for Anatomy and Micro. Like I said lets not talk about CHM. I got a C for that class :stone But i still made it to NS. Good Luck

At my CC, we have to complete A&P 1 & A&P 2 before taking Microbiology. IMHO, I think this it the best way to go.
If you can fit in Biology before A&P 1 or Chemistry before A&P 2, it will help even more. However, if you school does not require Chemistry, you can do with out it.
Good luck!
Wow thanks ! I Think you all settled it for me, truthfully I am alot more exited to take A&P anyways. In biology100 the microorganism stuff was probably my least favorite. Well I better go syudy, my Chem 101 final is tonight and Iv'e calculated that I need at least a 85% to get a solid A out of the class. HEY!!! no more chemistry after tonight!!!
Good luck with your final :)
