Good news for me too as I just got a job offer!!!:w00t: I'm checking out the contract right now but as far as I can tell there's no nasty surprises. The get out fee is really low compared to others I've seen. The pay isn't fanstastic but it's not horrendous either & it's certainly more than I get here in the UK! I'll look on it as paying back a loan through my wages! It's a means to an end anyway!!I'm really excited & if this $1000 for expediting works for me then I''ll be even happier!! Actually I noticed that on the contract they re-imburse N-CLEX fees etc up to a max $1000 so maybe they'll re-imburse it I-140's way!!Well I'm just too excited for words right now so I'll go now before I bore you anymore!!

Initially it will be med-surg & days but not yet confirmed 8 or 12 hours. Don't have any more real details yet.
The company thought that I had good, varied experience & want me to train up to ICU or ER once I'm settled. That will mean that when my initial contract is ended I will be in a better position than when I started.
I was hoping to hear from a couple of others too but I think this is as good as any offer I've seen. They pay for & sort out all the immigration stuff for me & even some of the stuff for my nearest & dearest. I even get a rebate for all my N-CLEX & licensing stuff but I've asked if they'll bump that to the expedited I-140 instead as it is exactly the same amount. Just waiting for the phone call right now.
Sounds really good, find out how long you are tied in for, and whether it is hours or fixed term?
I forget which state are you going to. If you are a direct hire you should be paid for your years of experience and they shouldn't give you less than the going rate for those years.
It's fixed term & it is a 2 year contract. I'd hoped for 12-18 months but what's another 6? At least the pay is increased by a couple of $$ after the initial 6 months, with furthur increments possible. It's not the worst pay I've seen & it is quite a bit more than I get here. I'll be entitled to extra for OT, Bank Holidays etc & even the allowed vacation hours are fair by US standards.
Also at least I know I'll get paid every month for 2 years:wink2: There'll be no worrying about whether I'll have enough hours to pay the bills as I have seen on this site with other foreign nurses & their less than desirable contracts!
It's not 100% perfect because it's not direct hire, I did try very hard but have drawn a blank with that approach. However, it's a nice, plain, fair contract. I'm under no illusions as to what I'm getting.........essentially a green card, 2 years stability, help with all immigration matters/costs, a good orientation and named support when I get to the USA, I'm even going to be met at the airport then I'll help getting SSN, driving test, etc etc.
I'm going to Florida, in or around the Tampa area...... so y'all better watch out!
I love Florida and would love to live there but I doubt it will happen now

rgn1 you must of been doing everything alone eh? smart girl!!when are you hoping to be there? its all very exciting for you:monkeydance:
Actually I'm far from doing it all alone. I'm with Adevia who found me this contract. I have tried to find things alone, with Adevia's blessing but I guess they knew I'd struggle & I have.
I have just seen from a posting in the Florida forum that the pay I've been offered actually isn't too bad in comparison either, especially considering its a dreaded agency!
I just let everyone know, thanks to info I've gathered on Allnurses over the months, that I know what's what & I won't have the wool pulled over my eyes. I think it's helped..So thanks again guys & gals xxxx I've benefited from all your trials & tribulations!!
Now I'll be lurking in areas that deal with the next step. OH & I promise to post exactly how long my I-140 takes too!:)

yeah that adevia seem to be alot better from ogp well reading the posts anyway. wish i hada found this site before i started the whole porcess.... guess everyone thinks that eh!!
They've certainly been very supportive & helpful to me. I'll reserve my final judgement until I actually get to the USA but up until now I honestly can't fault them. As I said they offered me the chance to try & find my own placement too. I would have had to pay everything myself if that had worked out but they were willing to let me carry on using their services.
Anyhow none of the local hospitals were willing to file on my behalf so I'm still with them. All I can do now is put those hospitals on the wish list for th agency to contact nearer the time, which they have said I can do no problem, they will approach them on an individual basis nearer the time.
The difference with Adevia is that you do alot of the early stuff yourself & pay for it too. You get it re-imbursed later on in the process if you use them to get your USA placement.
With agencies it's always going to be swings & roundabouts I think. You'll probably get a lower wage during your initial contract because they want to get their money back & make some too but they will take much of the immigration hassle off your shoulders & do the job hunting & filing of I-140 for you.
Having said that the contract I've been offered is reasonable & the wage is pretty muchthe norm for the area. I just think you have to make sure that you go into these things with your eyes open. Be aware of the pitfalls &, if you can, challenge them before you sign anything.
Good luck!!
