I Passed!

Published

Hello guys!I am posting this thread to give confidence to other NCLEX takers just like me. I took my NCLEX last April 17, 2014. I graduated 4 years ago and never worked in any hospital or any medical related field. In short, I started from the beginning when I did my review. I studied for 2 months, I didn't enroll to any review center, I just purchased Kaplan 2011-2012, 2013-2014, Lacharity, my old Saunders book, and my Med-Surg by Brunner and Suddarth. I made a schedule for my system by system review, one system each day and eval exam at the end of the day. I took an assessment exam before I started and it really made me disappointed. I got 45% in Kaplan assessment, which is enough to really motivate me and make me kick my own ass every time I get lazy studying. I did my review like it is my fulltime job. from 7am to 11 pm but of course with a lot A LOT of break time(I just got married last month so I am doing a lot of multi tasking while studying, that includes learning how to cook every single night!) My advice is, always ask yourself why, may it be a nursing procedure or medication, always try to know the rationale behind it, its better than just memorizing it. See it like this, you're subject of study is the human body, so needless to say, every part of it is related to each other, knowing the reason how one system works will give you a clue how other system works and that's been very helpful to me since I only have a very minimum time to prepare. 2 weeks before the exam I took another Kaplan test and it crushed me, I only got 59%. So I talked to my husband and told him I need to resched the test but he said no. He said that he can see how hard I am studying for the exam (I deactivated my facebook account and deleted my instagram!proof!) and he believed that I can do it. After that I started my Q& A, I did it for two weeks and the day before the exam, even though I promised that I am not gonna study anymore, I still did. I read my Lacharity book but stopped around 4pm. Had a long relaxing bath and a delicious steak courtesy of my uber supportive husband. During the exam day, I was feeling blah and now that I think about it, its better because it kept me from panicking. My exam stopped after the 100th question after one hour. They said you have to remember the last question, if you think you got it right then there's a good chance that you pass but i just didn't bother after the computer shut down, I was so tired and relived that its over. I prayed right after the exam and thanked him for guiding me. Most of the questions were SATA. I got the result after 2 days (quick result) i didn't try PVT, don't want to give myself a false hope bec some says its not 100% accurate. So now, here I am, having Game of Thrones Marathon. Bottom line is, if you're gonna do it, DO IT ONCE and DO IT RIGHT. If you have to sacrifice some things like going out or movie night, do it. Know how to prioritize, its better to suffer for 2 months and have the prize in your hands after than to just partially do it and then partially do it again and again and again. Does that make sense? Nothing is impossible, you just need to have the right support, in my case my husband and my family. I know you can do it guys, i also think that i won't pass it but here i am now a living proof that if you have dedication, faith in God and supportive family, anything is possible!

Congratulation! Im taking my exam this april 29... please pray for me..
