I PASSED!!!!!!!! Please read!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey everyone!!! Just took NCLEX today and according to Pearson Vue I passed!!!!:) I never been so happy in my whole life! Ok so I just want to tell you all that it was my second time around. I failed miserably the first time with only 75 questions and today passed at 75! I have to give all credit to the HURST REVIEW and God. I took Kaplan my first time around and didnt have any luck. The second time around I did nothing but content that was given to me through Hurst. Every question besides the dreaded medication questions I answered today, I felt confident when answering them. I know everyone is different but I feel like that is the only way to pass. You can do thousands and thousands of questions but your chances of getting a question anything like it are slim to none. You have to have your content down, and when I mean down I am serious... it's the only way you can pass this exam. I walked into the test feeling confident and walked out feeling even better (which I hear is unusual). I struggled from the beginning to the end in Nursing school barely passing my classes, so If I can pass this stinking exam so can the rest of you! For all those taking it for the second, third or forth time around, don't give up! You can DEFEAT this darn exam! If you have any questions dont hesistate to message me at Nrsing06 at yahoo. Wish you all the best of luck!!!!

Hi guys,I have something for you that hope it helps.https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/best-study-guide-418274.html This is what you are looking for?

Hi everyone! I just wanted to tell you that I havent been able to find those notes that I found a couple days ago. I know someone posted a link above. I think thats a nice study guide but its not the one that I saw like the hurst review. Ill keep searching....

i am from india too.i am preparing for nclex-rn and will be taking exam end of the july.Any tips or advise acceptable.

I took the NCLEX on 2/17/10 and I PASSED!!! by GODS grace I only had to take it once!!! Hurst is Excellent all I can remember during her test is that NCLEX will not give you an option that they know you know!!!! Kaplan I have done some of there questions and I think by knowing content, u dont need strategy! I thought Saunders n Hurst when it came to Comprehensive was Great!!!! Exam cram Excellent when it came to question format!!!!

Congrats to you Hummel09! I just found out this past Saturday that I passed my RN boards too!! It was an amazing feeling. Second best day of my life after my wedding;) I had kinda of a similar story to you. Took it twice. But didnt take hurst. Here's my story...

The first time I took Kaplan, I studied for 2 months, wasn't that consistent with my studying. I made the mistake of taking it while planning my wedding which is a full time job in itself and I was still working three days a week. I got close, failed with 265 questions and after 5 hours, I really knew I failed. I had so many meds I had never seen so many SATA and just realized that I didn't know my content enough. I went into the exam not feeling confident enough and i even thought of postponing the exam but I had so much going on at the time that I just wanted to take it already. That was a mistake.

I know some people love Kaplan but I really don't think it helped me at all. If you are not strong with your content this is not the course for you! Those questions are much harder then the actual NCLEX. I really feel that the nclex questions are much more straightforward than Kaplan q's. But if you feel like you know your stuff then it could help you, everyones different i suppose.

So after i failed back in September, I took some time off, got married went on my honeymoon and started studying again in December. I took a course called READY TO PASS in long island NY. It's a content focused review and the book is great. It had everything I needed to know, its not a huge book, and had some questions in the end of the book but what really helped was that I broke my studying into subjects. I used a few different resources for questions. My ready to pass book, my 4th edition Saunders questions, the questions at the end of each chapter in Exam cram:rn and finally did a few chapters in the Linda Lacharity book called Prioritzation, delegation and assessment.

So I would read the content in my RTP book on the particular subject i was doing that day and then do the 10 questions in my Exam cram book at the end of the chapter, read the rationales then moved onto the saunders cd and did the questions in study mode by content. I would not move onto another subject till I did ALL the questions on the cd as well as read the rationales for every question right or wrong. I studied normally 4-5 hours a day, sometimes more if I had it in me but most of the time 5 hrs. each subject would take me about 1-2 days.

I had to quit my job for those few months just so that I could focus on these boards. Went to the library sat in a quiet area with my ear plugs on so I could focus. Although i did the review courses in December, I didn't start studying consistently until January so all in all it took me less than two months to prepare to sit for the exam for the second time. I actually ended up rescheduling my exam twice before taking it this time, since I wasnt done with my content review. I finished my study regimen two days before the exam and on the last day before my test i went to Barnes and Noble and looked at the Linda Lacharity book-this book is really great, I gotta say that these questions are the closest you'll get to the real exam. I only got through half of the questions in the book but I think it really helped me. I would really recommend it to anyone! SAunders CD was great cuz i liked that I could break it up into content focused questions and their rationales helped me understand the topic more. I just thought the book was too big and it was just too much for me to read. Exam cram was good too but I didnt get to do the cd questions cuz I had to many other things i was doing. And then finally my ready to pass book was what I read from Every single day and of course the Linda Lacharity which is a must read. Oh and I also printed some of the facts from the random facts thread on here. Thanks to all those who posted, it truely helped tremendously!

So even the night before my test day i still was feeling unsure but personally I dont think you'll ever feel 100 percent ready, you just gotta go for it and pray pray pray! So on the day of, i was really nervous but when I got to pearson the lady at the desk was so nice she said some encouraging words and I felt a bit better. I finished in less than 2 hours with 85 questions. Tons of infection control and endocrine and SATA. I even got audio sound questions, i was like whats going on here but i guess I did okay. After the test i did some windo shopping and four hours after the exam i did the pearson vue trick and got the good pop up. The first time I took the exam I did the trick and it took me straight to the cc page so i knew i failed! So this trick is 100 percent accurate.

I still did the quick results 2 days later and I saw the words PASS. It felt so good.

SO word of advice, stick to a steady consistent study regimen, know which resources you want to use and try to take full advantage of it so you dont waste time and MOney, know your content (so important) do alot of questions (i did at least 100 per day) and pray!

Sorry for the long reply but I really wanted to share my story with all of you. I've been reading threads from this site since my first try but didnt start posting till after I passed and I know a lot of the posts have really helped me get thru this journey. THanks everyone! Im an RN now yayyyy. GOod luck to all of you taking it soon!
