I PASSED!!! Now....getting hired....

Nursing Students ADN/BSN

Was so thrilled to find out that I passed the NCLEX, after being sure that I failed. I studied every day starting after my nursing 4 final. Now just to get hired somewhere.....anywhere! I am new to the area and have applied to everything under the sun, with zero responses. Hard to not be discouraged! I would take IV/ACLS/classes like that but I have no idea where to go and my research has turned up nothing. Have to stay positive and keep plugging away.....!

If you want to take classes like ACLS/PALS, you can look up classes on the AHA website. I wouldn't know how to look up IV classes either.

It's a tough job hunt out there right now, but I hope you find something soon!

Congrats on passing! The job hunt is definitely not fun! I graduated in May, passed my NCLEX June 14, and have put in well over 150 applications everywhere within an hour radius from my house. I attended 3 career fairs and had one other interview. One thing I can say is be patient. I was really discouraged not hearing back from any place I applied, but I'm slowly starting to get responses on applications I put in a month or so ago. I have a few friends who got lucky & were hired immediately upon graduation, and I also have a large group of people I know who have had less interviews/call backs than me! Just takes time!

Good luck in the job hunt!:)

It's nice to know that others are going through the same, and now I'm starting to branch out to applying to PRN positions that are a solid 2 hour commute. Going to have to just practice relaxing and being patient and persistent.

Its tough to see some of the people from my class get these great jobs while I haven't a single response ! Deep breaths :)

Hospitals offer ACLS to outside nurses, but it will cost you around $250.

I think it's "who you know." If you know anyone in medicine or nursing, talk to them. ask professors for references. Ask preceptors for leads. Give them a resume and a reason to pass info to someone else. Volunteer at hospice, hospital, or other related organization. Join a professional organization and meet some people. Don't give up.

Always good advice, Stormin.

If a job requires ACLS, it will be provided by the employer. Usually, there is a grace period before you have to take it. Same with IV classes & use of any specialty equipment.

Good luck!!!
