  1. You have a great outlook on the elderly, I wish all SNF staff had the same mindset as you do!
  2. Gotta start somewhere!
  3. I am so thrilled! Since I've moved I have applied to over a hundred jobs (a lot of nursing, and a lot of non nursing, have to pay the bills somehow). Of those jobs I received two call backs: one for an EMT position that I'm pretty sure I didn't get and one for an SNF that hired me today. I am beyond relieved. Stay patient and persistent new grads! My question is what are your tips and tricks for treating the geriatric population? This is a relatively low-acuity facility (example: no trachs). Would love to hear some advice on assessment or any other gems you have learned from working with the geri population or in an SNF/rehab. Thanks :):)
  4. It's nice to know that others are going through the same, and now I'm starting to branch out to applying to PRN positions that are a solid 2 hour commute. Going to have to just practice relaxing and being patient and persistent. And I know what you mean about getting discouraged. Its tough to see some of the people from my class get these great jobs while I haven't a single response ! Deep breaths :)

  6. Was so thrilled to find out that I passed the NCLEX, after being sure that I failed. I studied every day starting after my nursing 4 final. Now just to get hired somewhere.....anywhere! I am new to the area and have applied to everything under the sun, with zero responses. Hard to not be discouraged! I would take IV/ACLS/classes like that but I have no idea where to go and my research has turned up nothing. Have to stay positive and keep plugging away.....!
