I passed at 75 with Kaplan

Published

I found it helpful looking at this website while preparing for the NCLEX so I told myself that afterwards, I would make a post to help others. I passed the NCLEX-RN on july 8th with 75 questions. I had 10 sata. To prepare, I took the Kaplan course and did the online QBank and question trainers. My scores were:

QT 4: 59.3%

QT 5: 60.7%

QT 6: 59.0%

QT 7: 62.3%

readiness: 61.7% (done before the bulk of my studying)

I did a total of 700 qbank questions. When I first started studying I would get 50s and 60s, but during my last week of studying, something clicked and I started getting high 60s and 70s. Don't let test scores stress you out! I would sometimes get that random 44% on a Qbank test, and it would freak me out. Make sure to do the Sample Test with the alternate format questions. It is good practice for sata questions.

Also, question trainers 6 and 7 are the most important in terms of how you score on them, because those have the highest level of questions, so aim for a 55 on qt 7, and make sure you REVIEW RATIONALES! I didn't do an extremely in depth review, but I just looked it over. I did not study any content, and I'm happy I didn't because all of the stuff I was thinking about studying, was not on my NCLEX. I had absolutely no OB questions, and no endocrine disorder questions, which is great because those were my weak points. Any other questions you guys might have, feel free to ask! Good Luck!

The sample test with alternate format questions was a big help, even though I only scored a 30 something percent on it. I am very happy that I didn't spend time on content, I feel like my time was well spent just doing lots and lots of questions.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I'll be sure to do all I can before I test I've been going through every question even if they were right and understand really why I answered it that way.

Oh yeah hurst is good but I listened one time and felt that it wasn't enough for me I felt content was good but it's all basic knowledge just needed a refresher kaplan is much better for me I feel too. you can't get nursing judgement in a book. Sometimes you just have to prioritize priorities.

I did Kaplan and passed with 75 as well. I also agree that you shouldn't kill yourself with content. You can't possibly cover it all and you are going to kill your nerves trying. Read your rationales, review labs, med SE, isolation precautions and have CONFIDENCE. Take your time with the questions, and good luck!

I agree, I felt a lot more confident after doing QT6 & 7... I had a better flow answering questions after that. Although now that I'm testing tomorrow I'm a nervous wreck and don't trust myself at all! hahah

I just took qt 6 and scored a 57% ): I changed 8 correct answers to incorrect. It would have been a 61% which makes it all the more frustrating! My test is in 2 weeks and I plan to do more questions and take qt 7 by next Monday. Hopefully I improve! It's so hard to stick with my gut, even though I know I should.
