I had my orientation!

Published

I had my orientation at Hickory Creek and it went great. The lady was scaring me at first cause I think she was gonna give me some real hard assignments. They will be orientating me Thursday, Friday, and Saturday but some others told me I should ask them for more time cause someone they knew of got 2 weeks. I'm hoping everything goes fine and I'll learn a routine and everything. The nursing home has 3 units and their specialty is respiratory. So in the msu they have vents, trachs, respirators, etc. They told me I'll be a floater, so I hope I can handle everything and get the hang of things since this is my first time working in a nursing home and my first real job.

Let us know how your doing? It can be scarey. renerian

Good luck and do not be afraid to ask for help. Keep us posted on your progress.

Those that got two weeks probably did so if they did not already have CNA status. They probably went through the CNA training during that time...not unusual. If you already have had the CNA training, you probably don't need the entire two weeks. I'm sure it'll be a bit of a struggle at first, but I'm certain that before too long you'll be old hand at it all! :)

Good luck & let us know how it goes! :)

You should ask for the two weeks. Nursing home work is so much different then home health. Most places don't want to train as much as they should! Good luck, don't be afraid to ask questions and always ask for help with an heavy lifting. Protect your back.

Where is this facility? Just curious, there is a Hickory Creek in my hometown and was wondering if it is the same one.

It's in Kettering
