I am still taking all my prerequisites for the nursing program at my school. In taking the prerequisites I realize I'm beyond stressed out. I'm currently taking human anatomy and feel as though it's trying to sabotage me . I know that I can pass the class since SO many people have passed it before... I just feel like I'm going to fail since there is SOOOO much information is such a short amount of time. The tests are hard and I feel like no matter how much I study I still can't retain all of the information thrown my way.
All I want to know is if anyone else has felt this way haha. If anyone has thought that this goal of being a nurse is out of reach. I feel like I have the angel and devil sitting on my shoulders, ones saying "you can totally do this" and the other is just laughing at me for trying. UUGHHH!!
Any advise to calm down? Or study tips?
Thank you so much!

A&P is tough it requires a lot of rope memory. I found it best to read chapter all the way through, then make an outline of the important parts in the chapter before lecture. i also used a coloring book that had all of the body parts in extreme detail. It was fun, I colored while I watched tv and when I would draw a blank on exam the color would come first. I felt that way, too. Everyone told me you couldnt get in, it was too hard, you had to be perfect, the stress was crazy. All I heard about were people who didnt get into the program. Well, I got in first try. Passed A&P with an A too. Let me tell you, that is the hardest class in this whole process. Respect it and give it the time that it deserves and you will do well. Good Luck

First of all -- wishing you all the best!
Now - it is a lot of material, and you can do it.
Fortunately, you have many positive thoughts about this already.
Others have done this, and so can you.
Now, maybe try to identify those negative thoughts and counter them right away. Change them. Don't let those negative thoughts waste your time. The task is humanly possible and you can do it.
Keep reviewing the material.
For anatomy - I found it helpful to use the diagrams with labels - then cover the words to force yourself to name the parts. Do this several times and you'll have it. Actually, I find anatomy to be one of the easiest of the courses.
All the best to you.

Anatomy was probably the hardest course I've taken so far, but I survived and so can you. For me, I studied every free minute I had. I even took my notes with me into meetings at work and if there was just a few minutes of down time I would look at them. Use GingerSue's advice of covering up the labels on your sheet and using that as a review, that was a huge help for me. Some of us in class even made copies of the lab book to use as review sheets.
Good Luck! You can do it!
Thank you all SO much for you help. It makes me feel better (and a little more sane) to know that I am not the only one that struggled with this class. My test is in two days and I'm feeling a little more confident so let's keep our fingers crossed that I pass!
Again, thank you all SO much!

Hey, I am in my first year of an ADN nursing program--- And thats how I feel now!... During the prereqs, I was stressed for a different reason though. If you think about it, the prereqs might be more stressful because you are competing to get into something. Whereas the program itself is rigorous but given that you do well, you're in it & all you have to do is get out alive! :wink2: Flashcards saved my life in A&P. Microbiology killed me though, but I managed to do well.... You can do this, you'll see. And before you know it you'll be a nursing student, and stressed out all over again..... Best of luck. :icon_hug:

I felt that way taking A&PII during the summer session..8 weeks instead of 16, really fast paced with all labs self taught. But what I realized is it actually easy compared to nursing school, all memorizing and heck I can do that. I ended up with a B in it, my only B in pre reqs. (An A in A&PI) These courses seem hard now but for me they are alot easier because the questions are NOT senerio based or subjective.
Calm down and enjoy these classes, you will need them when you get to NS. There are ALOT of links/info in the threads on this site to help you out. What I enjoy now is when I run into something I remember from A&P and it feels good to know someothing in NS when you are surrounded by so foreign stuff that is new and overwhelming at times.
Good luck and calm down already haha :heartbeat
