  1. Im glad it worked out for you
  2. 88 year old F patient was admitted with Acute Lower GI Bleeding. My nursing care book and Lippincott have diagnosis's for upper GI bleeding but not lower. The Dr. ordered a colonoscopy for tomorrow thinking she has an ulcer. Her other pertinent medical diagnosis are dimentia and hrpernatremia. She was admitted with a low BP 104/69 and is incontinent. She states she feels fine but her daighter was the one who reported the bleeding from rectum. Any insight into a primary nursing diagnosis will be greatly appreciated. I did good on my acute renal failure care plan but this one has me stumped since my books lack specifics for LOWER Gi bleeding. Thanks in advance.
  3. I felt that way taking A&PII during the summer session..8 weeks instead of 16, really fast paced with all labs self taught. But what I realized is it actually easy compared to nursing school, all memorizing and heck I can do that. I ended up with a B in it, my only B in pre reqs. (An A in A&PI) These courses seem hard now but for me they are alot easier because the questions are NOT senerio based or subjective. Calm down and enjoy these classes, you will need them when you get to NS. There are ALOT of links/info in the threads on this site to help you out. What I enjoy now is when I run into something I remember from A&P and it feels good to know someothing in NS when you are surrounded by so foreign stuff that is new and overwhelming at times. Good luck and calm down already haha :heartbeat
  4. OH man that powerpoint way sounds aweful. Im all for timing it and if there is a way not to go back fine, but let me control my own time mgt. Some questions require more processing time than others and the time limit per question would def. stress me out.
  5. Just think...everybody loves Hagrid in the HP movies Big and Burley can seem protective and huggable instead of intimidating given the right tone of voice and facial expressions.
  6. OMG this scares the crap out of me. Did she kill the pt? How did they keep his/her BS up? really curious since my son is a diabetic.
  7. I am homeschoolling my 5th grader for the first time this year and I just started the ADN program on Monday so I will have to let you know :heartbeat We decided to homeschool him because he is a diabetic and the middle school here is not the best controlled so we were really worried about his health. He is smart so I am hoping that it wont be too hard but there is a good possiblity that I bit off more than I can chew but I hope not.
  8. Our grading system is the same except a 77 is considered a C.
  9. I just got a job as a med tech. in a nursing home. In NC the test is free for med. tech and you can become certified in no time.I think this will help me with pharmacology when I start the RN program in the fall, at least that is my HOPE anyway. I dont have any exp. in the nursing field either, so I had the same train of thought going into this job, just give me something to get my feel wet and become comfortable around patients.
  10. Start memorizing the names of the bones and anatomical positions. This will help you learn the anatomy of the body and alot of things will make sense to you. Thats my opinion anyway. The hardest part of A&P I for me was the muscles (mostly the physiology part though). Good Luck! I am in A&PII right now through the summer and whew I will be glad when it is over, one test a week is a killer.
  11. Why would they only play for the last semester? That seems really odd. You can call the local unemployment office and just ask for a number to talk to someone. At the school I go to they have an office in our school as well.
  12. I live in NC and I am using the WIA program. My story is I was in the tech field making 50,000 a year and got laid off from my job after 8 years. In this area high paying jobs are limited to none esp. in that field. So a friend told me about workforce (what its named here) and I got in touch with them through the unemplyment office (I was on unemployment for 6 months after my layoff). The program is VERY user friendly, or at least it has been for me so far (knock on wood). They dont base anything on my husbands income, I just had to take an entrance exam (which was really basic stuff) and I got in. This is my second semester in school . I start the RN program in the fall. So far they have paid for all my books, supplies, they paid for my physical, shots, cpr and everything going into the program. They will pick up all of my uniforms and supplies and tuition. All I have to do is keep up with a time sheet (making sure I am actually going to class) and meet with my WIA advisor once a quarter. They give me vouchers for EVERYTHING I need. They will even pay my NCLEX exam fee. The only thing they wont pay for is retaking a class if you fail, which I think is fair. I feel very lucky to have this opportunity to go to school for free in this day and age. I hope anyone "displaced" like I was finds this info helpful. The only downfall for me...the loss of the income and not working while I go to school has really put a financial strain on us. I know it will pay off when I am done but whew if I can get past all of the stress and school Ill know that it was by the grace of God. :heartbeat
  13. I would take the pencil/paper version if at all possible. You have way more time to go through all of the problems you know and then go back or perhaps guess at which ones are left. Luckily for me the 2nd time I took it it was the SAME EXACT test. Maybe you can remember the types of ?? and focus your studying towards what you know you needed help with. I got into my nursing program this fall YEAH FOR ME so I am glad I never have to take the TEAS again. It was so unpredictable the randomness to the ?? esp. in the science portion.
