I need scrubs............help!

Published

so i have been working as a new nurse for 5 weeks. i need advice on scrubs! my floor has no specific color restrictions....we just cant wear jeans or shirts that 'advertise' (pretty liberal).

i have 4 pr dickies and i like them, but cannot keep up on washing so frequently.

i had no idea how much i could spend for a work uniform!

i want front pockets, comfortable, washes/holds up well.

oh ya, i am 5'8", and need "tall" pants.

i have been looking to order online......any recommendations for websites? what are your favorite scrubs? why?

I guess I am partial to www.jascouniform.com

they have the best selection of styles, sizes, and brands, in my opinion. They also have great sales.

i wear this (http://allheart.com/di4set.html) a lot, i have the set in about 5 colours, but i switch out the top with this (http://allheart.com/ln8219.html). i almost always wear the pants though, they're sooo comfy and it's insane how much stuff you can shove into the pockets and not look like you're carrying half a supply closet with you ;)

Apnea, the first style is super cute! I wish they were offered in teal...the floor I'll be starting on in a few months requires teal or white. Having a bit of trouble finding the right shade of teal...especially in cute styles! :uhoh3:

Easy. i'm HUGELY into DIY, i used to make everything i wore back when i had time to do selfish things like breathe, pee, eat, sleep...

Buy a set in white, and dye it. i've had major success with RIT dyes, just get a few crappy white t-shirts from the dollar store and practice on those until you get the shade right, then follow the instructions on the box.

That's fantastic! I honestly would have never thought of that. Will try it on my next day off. BTW, you must be in school, with a comment like that (selfish things like breathe, pee, eat, sleep?) :lol2: Thanks for the suggestion, I'll let ya know how it turns out!

Just watch the shade differences between the shirt and the scrubs, they're SUPER soft and comfy but the fabric is slightly stiffer than the average t-shirt, so sometimes the shade on the shirt is a couple shades lighter than it will be on the scrubs. Best thing to do is get the shirt the right colour, then re-dye the scrubs a bit darker if you need to. Trying to darken is easy, but lightening is sort of like moving mountains with a wet noodle for a lasso.

And yeah, i'm in school. i'm starting NS in January, this is my last semester of pre-reqs but i'm taking a lot of gen. ed. stuff for my masters in molecular bio later on. So this semester i've finally settled on pathophysiology, calculus I, patho micro, an ancient history class (greece and the near east), med term, and organic chemistry I for a grand total of 18 hours. also i'm taking a yoga class for 1 hour, but i don't count it because i'd be doing it anyway on my own.

i am the coffee girl. the girl with all the coffee.

Scrubs and shoes are worth paying a little more for good quality! I personally like Peaches, they are comfy, but a little pricey. Dickeys are good too.

I found my scrubs for $9.00 A SET!! online at www.salusuniforms.com

They came in about 4 days, and have every color under the sun. I ordered for my CNA programme that is starting end of August 07, and I bought two sets for under $18 bucks and they come with front pockets. If you are looking for shoes and other apparel try e-bay. I just bought a almost new pair of white dansko shoes for $31.00 plus $10 shipping! Can't beat that.

Good luck and hope I was of some help!

I love Iguana scrubs. The material is very soft and tops have the perfect amount of pockets. Best quality out there that I have found. www.iguanamed.com.

www.sassyscrubs.com is my favorite. A bit pricey but custom lengths are available and the fabric selection is great. I love printed pants!

i like uniform advantage.com my favorite site. by each print it tells what colors go with them so there is no guessing. for example, If i buy orange pants i find three different tops to go with those pants. my all time fav is still scrub pants and a tshirt. i rarely wear scrub tops anymore.
