I need some prayers for a dear person

Hello all -- I come to my Allnurses family to request prayers for a very special person in my life. I received a phone call early Saturday am from my father. He relayed the story to me on the phone that my aunt, his sister, had gotten up approx. 1am to go to the restroom, and fell, hitting her head on the hardwood floor in her hall. She came around and managed ro drag herself down the hall and into the kitchen to get to her phone. She was transported to a larger facility for further eval. and surgical repair of her fx hip.

My aunt is a very independent woman, and at 83, she refused to leave her home in South Louisiana in Washington parish at the onset of hurricaine Katrina. The nurse in me knows this is a routine surgical repair, but the neice in me worries, beause Aunt Mel is the person who when I was young, gave me a repect for nature, and believed in me going to nursing school.

Mel is a wonderful person, and a retired LPN herself, although she didn't work long after graduating to start a family.She is in my prayers and thoughts and would love it if you guys kept her in your prayers.

I'm sorry you're going through this emotional time. Even though we know things like this are going to happen in our families eventually, they seem to always take our emotions by surprise.

I will pray for you, your aunt, and your whole family.

Just wanted to post an updte on my aunt and her accident. My aunt fell coming back from the BR last weekend. She live in Bogalusa, La. by herself.

She had her surgical repair last Saturday AM, and had no problems. I'v tried to call at least once a day to check up on her. She has done fine with her surgery,and on Wednesday, got transferred to rehab. Her therapy has progressed as expected, thank God!

She is a remarkble woman, and been there through thick and thin. She was also the driving force behind me going to ng school.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone for their prayers and good thoughts! We do appreciate it!!
