I was just on the phone with a dad of one of my sweet third graders and as we were getting off the phone he says "I love you" and then stammered all embarrassed and said "I mean, tell her I love her" ?
For some reason since my oldest was born, the song I would sign to them for anything was "heart and soul, I fell in love with you. Heart and soul, the way a fool would do, madly, because you held me tight, and stole a kiss in the night."
Anytime I say I love you to them it is always followed with "heart and soul".
The other day I forgot the "heart and soul" and my littlest (3) quickly turned around and said "umm...you forgot hawt and soul!"
My family has always said "I love you" when leaving the house, getting off the phone, if we forget we call the other back just so they know.
Funny: I text my diabetic kiddos parents often. I was texting them at the same time as my husband and affectionately texted them (group text with mom and dad) "I love you ;)" then quickly sent another that it was for my hubs. The dad responded "Haha, it's okay, we love you, too!"
