I posted on here yesterday about any advice on hospitals in FL. Here's my situation though. This is my first travel assignment, I came down here a lil over a week ago, started orientation, and found out the night I was supposed to work that my contract was cancelled........I was told due to not meeting satisfaction with one of my test scores.....which i was not aware that this test would reflect on my contract. Another thing is that I've took this test before, and never had any problems with it. So my dilema now is that i'm in limbo waiting to get another interview for another assignment. I'm really starting to question if it is really worth me staying here, is my travel agency telling me everything i need to know or being honest with me? I'm clueless since this is my first time traveling/experience with everything.....Does anyone have any advice?? I feel like i'm already starting off on the wrong foot......

It's not the agencies requiring this test - it's the hospitals themselves. In addition to asking the agency when considering contracts I also ask the hospital representative when I interview for a position. I've found that some clinical supervisors at the unit level are not aware that this test is being used to eliminate travelers. They were under the impression that it was being used as a training tool as it is designed to be used with regular staff. Needless to say I've told them (and anyone else who will listen) how many good nurses they are missing who won't even consider a facility giving this test.

I was traveling through CC....they kept my paycheck and my expense money AFTER my recruiter had reassured me that I wold receive my paycheck......needless to say after running around in a circle with them, I finally decided to go home....too many other companies out there to travel with....now I definetly know to ask more questions and be better prepared when I decide to try a travel assignment again.....Next big problem though is going to find a travel agency that I will trust........

Sorry, still very upset about the way everything turned out......but it is not up to the agency, it is the hospitals that require the test, but my recruiter stated that she knew nothing about the test, while I met another nurse through CC that claimed their recruiter told them?!?!? go figure.....more of why I was so upset....anyways, need to ask if they give the test....

I just took and passed the PBDS at Pitt Memorial in Greenville. My travel company as well as the hospital let us know before the contract that if we failed we were going home.
