It helps to also make phone calls and follow up on your applications. Maybe drop off resumes. Look nice. Present yourself well. Let them know you are still interested. Give good handshakes. Make eye contact. Ask for a tour of the unit. Ask to shadow. Don't just submit your application and then sit back and wait for a call back.
GEt back into a hospital asap, take what ever position they offer and then transfer later, it will be easier. Then get ACLS, and as many credentials as you can to move your career up. Don't waste time because it takes years to get anywhere unless you have special connections. For most of us, it takes time and hard work and if you let time get away from you then you'll be working the floor at 60 plus years old.

I having a hard time getting a job getting a job at med surg unit. I have worked as a nurse for over 3 years now. My first job was at inpatient rehab unit and currently working at long term care facility as RN Team Leader. I like my job but i really want to progress in my career. The only certification i have is BLS. What else can i do to improve my chances of getting hire in medsurg or tele unit? Thanks.
