I moved up my NCLEX date to a week earlier!! Am I ready??

Published

Hi guys,

So I graduated from my BSN program May 8. We took the live Kaplan review through our school May 1-4, and then also did the Hurst review May 16-18. I went on a cruise May 20-26 but studied on the way to and from Florida in the car and a little here and there on the cruise.

I did Kaplan question trainers 1-3 and the diagnostic during my program, and 4, 5 & 7 so far on my own. Here are my scores:

Diagnostic: 65

QT1: 60

QT2: 58.7

QT3: 52

QT4: 63.3

QT5: 61.3

QT6: not taken yet

QT7: 65.3

Hurst Q Review Exam 1: 81.3 (took this a few days ago)

**I took QT7 last night from 8:44pm-12:15am! Not the best idea but hey I wanted to see how I could do and I have no patience.

I would like to mention just for reference sake and not bragging rights that I graduated at the top of my class, was one of the 9/100 students that passed our exit exam with the highest score, and I test well. Of course, I have had zero test or nclex anxiety until I got my ATT and now I'm a little tachy at baseline. I know I know this information and I test well, there is just so much pressure to pass with a job waiting!

I originally scheduled my exam for June 23 to give myself plenty of time, but after reading too many posts on this forum, talking to coworker RN's, etc, I moved it up to June 15th so I can get it over with and as I may not need all that time to be ready.

Currently I'm doing lots of questions on Kaplan, the RN mastery app, remediating my incorrect questions and making flashcards off of that info I need to review more, and plan to review the Hurst book information as well as complete the other Hurst Q Reviews. My cumulative Kaplan QBank score right now is 62%. What's your advice? Will I be ready by June 15? Any other strategies for studying etc?

Thank you guys so much!!

We used ATI in our program. At the end we did the prep ATI modules. They told us to shoot for 60%. If your's is similar, it sounds like you might be marginally ready.

Continue to study the way you have, you should be fine.

Your scores are similar to mine and I used similar prep material. I took it recently and passed in 75 questions.

I did nearly all of Kaplan's Qbank and I did all of the trainers (spaced over a semester and then a live review after we graduated), I did the live Hurst review but did not complete all of their quizzes (I didn't feel that I was getting enough out of their questions). I did a UWorld demo of 25 questions and wished I had used that, also did maybe a couple hundred Saunders questions and a hundred or so NCSBN.

I found there was a balance to strike between taking it soon enough that all of the nursing school content was still accessible and having enough time to practice enough questions that I felt confident taking it.

During the test: relax, don't let the NCLEX hype limit your ability to answer questions you know you can answer. You don't need to make a 100, you probably won't know everything, but like Kaplan you can make an informed guess based on clues. So just because you don't recognize something does not automatically mean you will get it wrong.

I moved my test date up too. I may be crazy because I haven't studied long but I just feel like I know I can pass this. I graduated top of my class and scored the highest on our exit exam. After seeing so many people on here say they passed at 75 questions I can't imagine not passing. I am still studying everyday for 8hrs.

We can do this! I test June 14th. Good luck girl

Oh my gosh. How do you focus 8 hours/ day? Take a break. Your test is Tuesday. You can do this. Top of your class? Highest exit exam score? Breathe. Enjoy the weekend.

Lol thanks I'll let you know how it goes!

I don't know about all the numbers but it seems like 60% is good for most of the qbanks. I'm scheduled for the 29th but I'm considering moving my test up a week to the 22nd to get it over with as well. I'm not sure if I'm ready though either. I'm doing Uworld, RN NCLEX mastery app, reviewing things like labs and the stuff I get wrong, and am going to go over the 35 page review as well.
