I am on several home meds and I always take them before I get in the shower. One morning I was very sleepy and I didn't realize it but I took 2 ambien instead of two of my other medications. After I was at work for about an hour it took affect and I became very sleepy and I was reported as impaired on the job. They immediately suspended me and turned this over to the NCBON. I even took 2 urine test that came back negative. What am I going to do? I have a family and they have had me out of work since Nov 2. Please somebody give me some advise.
A lawyer isn't limited to just your city. You can hire any lawyer as long as they are familiar with your state's laws...so you can look outside your city as well. Try googling a search for a lawyer, or start asking around. Open up the yellow pages in your phone book....great place to start.
It is my understanding that a lawyer has to have a license to practice in the state in question--similar to nurses and docs.
Never got to see him. Waited in lobby for over an hour and he still never called my name. So I have rescheduled for Thursday.
I found out weeks ago that the hospital I work for cares about one thing and one thing only, they don't give a damn or at least how their nurse's are doing. As long as they can keep their name out of it, the better. They don't offer to help and they are the ones who filed the complaint. The only thing I am told is wait until the board of nursing gets in touch with me. I call the NCBON and left 2 messages for someone to call me back. and this is per advise from the hospital administrator and no one has called back.

We don't even let people drive home with Percocets on board, how on earth did they think you should be working!!
To the OP (original poster), get the lawyer, look in the yellow pages, call the state attorney general's office and ask for advice in finding one if you have to. Even if the BON doesn't believe you (although they should), there are diversion programs where you are on probation for a time, and back to work. If you get stuck with one, take a deep breath, do what they say and put it behind you. God Bless hon.
