I lol at the stud who quit because he had to empty a bedpan...

Nursing Students Male Students

Published

Had to share...there are (were) 4 guys in my class of 30. We have already had 10 people drop out after they found out exactly how much was involved with class and clinicals.

If that wasn't bad enough, within an hour of starting rounds last night, we had this alpha male go squeamish. Now try to imagine the stereotypical stud muffin...perfect hair, chiseled face, probably works out like it's a religion, basically a babe magnet...ok so this guy is standing there bedside with this LOL, and she made quite the BM mess in her bed. There was a very nicely filled bedpan sitting on the bed, and this guy is standing there looking like he was going to hock up a spleen. :barf01:

He absolutely refused to touch said bedpan, and in fact decided right then and there to quit the program. I didn't even bother to hide my amusement, actually I rubbed it in as much as I could before he walked out the door. Ain't I a stinker?

I am pretty sure he was only in nursing school because he believed all the nurse Mediao. Ahh, one less moron, thank you nursing gods.

alpha male? lol:roflmao: usually the first ones to go.

Honestly? Be glad he quit, students like that are a dime a dozen. The media has painted the medical field into something its not. As for not being able to handle personal care, well sorry that's what nursing is about. I'm not sure how he missed the memo but there are tons of articles of being spat and shitted on as a nurse. lol. I'd have laughed too, whether he spent 2$ or 2million, do your research people. CNA work is not for the faint of heart and neither is any occuptional field of nursing is when it comes to pt care. You feel bad for the guy who quit? Want to throw stones at OP for laughing? Well chalk it up to the pt who couldn't help themselves and had a cna student walk out. Yeah don't exactly what that guy over my loved ones so I'd have LOL too if he bailed.

 Holy moly I thought this thread would have died shortly after I posted it. I didn't know it was going to polarize everyone. Some of you read way too far into my motives in posting this. It was simply funny, you had to be there to appreciate it.

The guy did end up going back into school but MUCH more humble than he was before. He was a total dbag back then and the whole situation was full of delicious irony. Mea culpa for enjoying it.

Haha that's funny that he cAme back but I'm not surprised. He is lucky they let him return.

It sounds like pride was an issue for both parties here. One side is obvious, but the choice to ridicule meant losing a leadership opportunity. Humor can be found even while helping someone through a tough time. At this point I have more respect for the "stud" for being able to grow by swallowing his pride and crawling back after such an embarrassing experience.
