Stick it here and I'll answer what I can. I know the search isn't always useful, but try that first, and then if you have any questions feel free to post. I'm off on Sunday and Tuesday of this week (10 April 2010).

I've been writing down notes from your posts for months!!! I have my lists. I'm wondering how I'm going to carry all this stuff on the plane and to the transport! lol.

Thank you very much. I did look around and I saw the advice that you gave to the March people. Are we allowed to have our cell phones in the dorm at least?
is the 5k run counted for points? thanks Carolinapooh
Yes, there are. And they'll tell you EXACTLY what will be on the tests, so try not to stress too much.
Also, you'll have to give a briefing on a topic that they'll give you (they give you a big long list) and you have about three days to put it together - and that's fine; it's not a big deal as far as slide appearance and stuff, it's more for the experience even though it IS for a grade. Don't make yourself too stressed out about it at the time; you'll do fine.
No. I was actually quite pleased at the time with my 5K run time! It's counted for points for stuff like PT Flight, but not for any "grade" type stuff for you.
Yes - take your phone. You can make as many calls as you want when you get back to your room. If you have a smartphone, you'll be even happier about such an expensive purchase. Reception there is pretty good.
Mid posted on here about an iron. I answered her question on another forum, but I've copied my answer below since I did start a question thread here.
Here's my answer:
YES, I would. The ones in the room are awful. But there will be an ironing board, and when i was there they were in decent shape. What I did buy was a new cover (the night before at WalMart!) - they're the standard size, metal ironing boards. Our cover was awful, so I'm glad I did it.
You can always return it when you get to go off base (and you will, eventually) if you don't open it.
I know you did not go to NTP, but i will still ask the question anyway. You might know.
1. I just got my orders and for NTP, they said i will be staying in some hotel and they said it will cost about $99/night- is this for me to pay or for finance office to pay. Does it mean that I have to pay for this and they will reimburse me later?
2. For NTP, do we need to bring text books or everything is provided for us there?
1. I would call the finance office on this one. The reason I'm saying this is I know that with a government credit card (which, BTW, you won't have) YOU pay and get reimbursed, but I can't imagine them requiring you to pay out of pocket for something that costs $100 a night when NTP is something like twelve weeks. Call the finance office at the NTP base and ask them, then post back here what you find out. Everyone here at NTP stayed in government quarters, so they'd be no help when it came to me trying to get you an answer. If it were me, I'd call Finance and ask; if they're no help, try to get your recruiter to find out for you (of course, you may have already tried this and gotten nowhere).
2. They'll provide everything you need for NTP at NTP. I'll confess, though - I packed my med-surg RN book from school and my patho book in my car and took them to COT so I'd have them handy when I got here if I needed them! If there's a book you have that you really like and would like to have handy as a reference, then I'd pack it in your car and take it to COT if you have the room.
I am actually meeting a nurse on Saturday , who I met on here, who is in Scottsdales NTP right now. If you want to wait a couple days, I'll get that answer for you. She has already raved about how great the hotel is. You'll be at one of 2 private hospitals here in Scottsdale. The program was actually written about in Nurseweek magazine recently.
