I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

I took the nclex in july and my computer shut off at 86. Everyone told me the same thing but guess what I passed. A nurse told me afterwards that the test is not set up to fail you so most likely you passed the more you get wrong the more questions it gives you. GOOD LUCK! I'M SURE YOU PASSED!:balloons::lol2:

hi my nme is tavvyne took my nclex pn on the 5th of sept 07 tht wz my 2nd time computer shut @160// whn i gt my result it wz bad!!! i dont knw wht to do am very discourage / hv used several books/ for those dt passed if u knw of any review class dt i can attend wll appreciate it cs i dont think i cn read on my own anymore

I just got mine saturday 10/07 and it says has passed. I couldn't believe it. I mixed in many breaks while studing but never missed a day so I stayed sharp. Sometimes I would do 20 questions and other times I would 300. Dont be down, you can take it again. Dont study if youre tires and dont study if you dont feel like it. It worked for me. GOOD LUCK!!!

I used SAUNDERS only but I dont think it helped. I just got lucky.

hey all..I took the NCLEX-PN this afternoon. I was so nervous before the exam. A friend told me to take 3 deep breaths and smile at the computer before starting to calm down. I know it sounds wierd but it works.. I still feel like I didn't do well. I know it's a normal feeling to feel like I guessed a lot because some of the questions are not really thought in school/I just never heard of them. I didn't get a lot of priority questions. It was mostly infection control, 10 pharm & a few apply all questions which I hated. I'm just posting for my own sanity. Good thing I only have to wait 48hrs. I't already 2:30AM and I'm still up. Talking about worries/stress

LC LPN, Congratulations! I finally figured out how the test works - things like if you get a question wrong, you get a less hard one, etc. Well, this is encouraging. I wonder what the pass rate is.

I've heard that, too. Is there anything you might have done that would have worked better?

yeahYeah, when I gor for my RN Im gonna make sure to stay in clinicals as long as possible. I picked up some answers from my experiences even though we got sent home early a bunch of times. I dont think I could have studied for my test because it didnt focus on anything in particular. And most people seem to get the test theyre not good at while other get really lucky. You just have to relax and let it come to you at the right time....

I am in nursing school now, and we were taught all about cultures. We actually got taught the Post mortem care for a jewish pt, it was a question on our exam? Did you go to a college or a vocational school?

vocational. and it was just a random question. just work on your skills alot and youll be fine

i took mine on tuesday 10/9 and i know i failed. it stopped at 100. i had alot of meds and select all that applies. i'm soo depressed. i dont know if i should start studying or just take a break. when i get my results in the mail and it shows that i fail, will i recieve a big envelop? and do they provide directions on how to retake the nclex agian?. i hope theres still hope for me. please pray for me. i live in ca so i get my results in like 3-4 weeks. i was the first one to take the exam in my class so it would be soo devastating if i failed. im just preparing for the worst. thank you!:uhoh3::uhoh3: please pray for me :o

dont beat yourself up yet. everyone swears they have failed after they took it. that feeling is normal. dont go borrowing trouble just yet, take a deep breath and keep yourself busy until you know otherwise. good luck to you.
