well its offical. i will be starting my distant education rn-bsn spring 2010! i am so freaking happy!!! its winston-salem state university rn-bsn. this a state college in nc. i actually got by bs with them in 1996. they will come to my hospital once a week on tuesday 5-9 for 1 yr. and teach us the subjects. the best part is, they approved all my general ed classes and i do not have to take anymore general ed courses. they are exempting me from the first class (nurs 2312-nursing dynamics)because they are giving me credit for nur 214(transitions to rn role) from excelsior college.(can you believe that!) the icing on the cake is that the program will cost me about $500(not including books) because the hospital reinburses $1500. all this education is finally paying off! thanks for listening.
Congrats!!! :nmbrn:
I am a nurse in NC too and I am highly considering doing my BSN with WSSU. I used to live in the town next to WS but I have moved to Wake county- I think they also do classes at Wake Med..
Are any of your classes online? I have heard from some people on my floor that WSSU is fairly easy, of course, anything is compared to nursing school!! Good luck, I will hopefully be doing the same in a few years (when I have some money!!!) lol

Hey long time no talk.. how is that job going? Do you like it? And congrats on your acceptance!
Well hello stranger! The job is a working progress. I guess my biggest hang up is the fear of the unknown. I go in each day terrified that I am gonna have patients that I don't know how to take care of. Usually I can. My co workers are great and are always coming by and asking if they can help me. I know in the end, I have support and that makes me feel good. On the down side, I have come to realize that I do not want to do bedside nursing for long and that is why I am so anxious to get my BSN and then my MSN so I can get a 8-5 JOB that is not bedside related.
How is your job coming. PM me when you get a chance.

Hi,
I am gonna do it at Wake Med and I have heard the same thing about the course work. The course work is mainly class work. I don't think the program is online. They come 1x per week and I think you do presentations and assignements. I need a break will a less stressful program. I have really had it hard with LPN school and EC. Good Luck to you! Also even if you don't work at Wake med, if you get into the program, you can still come to the campus and do the program.
