Congrats! I am a new grad too and will be working in the ICU. I am shaking in my boots. Thankfully I was able to precept in my ICU during my last semester and I will be working with some wonderful nurses.
I am not sure if you were asking me for advice or others. Since there is quite a bit of time from now until you start, I would begin to review the body systems. Just ensure you have a good solid base to work up from. I am sure much of this will be refreshed in your program, but it can't hurt to be ahead of the game. Maybe even get a CCRN study guide. Review drugs common to the ICU. Again, I think any prep work to make you look sharp and on your toes can only help you.
Good luck!
Congrats! I know how elated you are!! I was also accepted into ICU as a new grad..today was my last day on orientation, although i have been basically on my own since my second week. I came off orientation 4 weeks early, simply because all the staff and physicians felt i was competant and they needed me in staffing. My best advice is to get in there and show them you mean business, and that you are confident and knowledgeable. DO NOT go in there and just "follow" people around all day...jump on in and get your feet wet early on, learn as you go, and always question anything you are unsure of, even if you think it is a dumb question. Develop a good relationship with your coworkers, and make your self available to help whenever you can. If you feel you arent getting appropriate training from you preceptor, ask to change. Do not let yourself be shorted. You got the job, now get in there and show them what you can do!

I just wanted to announce, because I am so thrilled, that I have been accepted as a new grad for an ICU internship. I have enjoyed reading the posts in this section for some time now, and can't wait to contribute from personal experiences from this point forward.
I am dancing for joy!!!
