  1. I send u a private message.
  2. I am also a new grad in the MICU. Our hospital gets tripled often enough. I have been off orientation for about 1 month and just last week, I was tripled for the first time. I would say that at least one of our units is tripled 5 out of the 7 days.
  3. It is given when a oliguric patient's creatinine is high to stimulate the kidneys to make urine. This can at times stimulate some form of urine formation in the oliguric patient that is fluid overloaded.
  4. The decision is ultimately up to u. I moved to the east coast and got a job here but my classmates all got jobs at cottage hospital- some of my classmates are still looking for jobs although. Some of my classmates also got hired at lompoc hospital. The RN program is changing to a traditional in fall of 2009 and the LVN program is a traditional program already. good luck
  5. I just graduated from the RN program. As far as I know, there really isnt a wait-list for the LVN program- only thing is that it only starts every year or so. And as far as I know, there is no wait-list for the LVN-RN program...most students get right in since there are not that many applicants. But there is about a two year waitlist for the RN program. The RN program is currently undergoing many changes- going from a self-paced program to a traditional program. A lot of my classmates did not like the self-paced philosophy and we all believed the traditional philosophy is going to help students be more successful in the program. I would say go straight to the RN program...as far as jobs go- it is a hard time for any profession at the moment, even nurses. I hear Cottage Hospital isnt hiring any new grads anymore for this year. The only other option for RNs in town would be Sansum Clinic or retirement homes or dialysis centers. Good luck
  6. Most of the new hires at Cottage Hospital are new graduate nurses from the local nursing school-SBCC. I just graduated from SBCC and know this for a fact. SBCC graduated more than 40 nursing students this past spring semester and most have been hired or are competing for these positions.
  7. Dont feel bad- i just accepted a position in the ICU as a new grad in North Carolina and will be starting at 19.75/hour.......yeahahahh.
  8. What sites have u all gotten as options for clinicals? I havent started my official BSN search for schools but on track for that. Thank u all
  9. I was also accepted into a critical care program as a new grad...i am so nervous... i dont start until mid july....i graduated in March....any advise?
  10. I got a pell grant while in nursing school...idk... and I just finished bachelors in a different field too. so idk.
  11. I was wondering whether Cape Fear or Wake Med offer relocation assitance or loan reimbursement options? what about sign on bonuses? I tried looking online but I havent been able to find answers. thanks! Anything helps
  12. I am also relocating as a new grad from california to north carolina... I was unsuccessful in scheduling phone interviews so I had to take manners into my own hand... I ended up flying out of pocket for interviews and now have an offer in the intensive care unit. So in my situation it was hard to set up phone interviews- although I had been in touch with the nursing recruiter for a few months.
  13. i only applied to one program and got into that program the following semester...
  14. I also use the term 'brief'..... diapers sound bad and we were also taught not to use this word
  15. i am also planning on applying for endorsement but from california to north carolina.... I am not sure about finger printing process since I havent gone through the process yet. Have u tried searching that question here? sorry if i am not that helpful
