I hate nursing

You should probably leave nursing if you really do hate it. Why on earth would you go to school for four years for NURSING if you "want a job with the least amount of personal interaction"???

If you are just depressed, or its your job, or something else besides basically not wanting to interact with people...then there are office jobs for nurses. I would just seriously consider if this is something you really want.

In the interest of helping you out even though I think you should probably be working in technical support in a cubicle I would advise you to check out employee health nursing, case management, or some type of nursing sales/marketing position. Maybe even nurse-recruiter/HR.

I sincerely hope things get better for you. For the sake of your patients though I hope you can at least fake it.

For you information my patients where I work appreciate me and I am very friendly and kind to them; however I am an introvert and constantly talking and working with people becomes overly exhausting for me. I went into nursing school when I was young and fresh out of high school and did not know what I wanted to do; I apologize for making a possible career mistake. I was just searching for possibilities in the nursing world that I could do without feeling burnt out everyday and could better use the talent that I do have; again my apologies for not being outgoing!

Have you considered maybe pursuing a nursing position for an insurance company or becoming a professor? When I was looking for a job, I saw a few telenurse positions that required previous nursing experience.....Current literature also indicates that there is or will be a shortage of nursing professors...When I took a CNA course, it was taught by an RN...Seemed like a pretty chill job...

Don't put yourself down. Plenty of other people out there that will do that for you. Have you looked at operating room nursing? Yep you still have some stress but you get to work in a team environment, you only need to be super nice until the patient goes to sleep and there is always something new to learn. Don't stress the best thing about a Nursing degree is the variety. Good luck.

There are many types of positions that are more suited to an introvert -- I totally get the 'dealing with people exhausts me' thing. My idea of a good time??? Solitude and my Kindle - LOL.

But I want to point out that education is NOT a great place for introverts either... we don't cope with life & death decisions, but dealing with needy and entitled students can be even worse!!! OR nurses may not have a lot of patient interaction, but they are on the receiving end of demanding surgeons.

Give some consideration to the 'lone ranger' types of jobs in which you can work by yourself. In most settings, there are jobs dealing with data (quality, utilization and review, etc) that would be a good fit. Nurses are also hired for jobs that require analysis of patient records (law offices, insurance companies, research, etc.).

I keep hearing suggestions for getting jobs in the OR or in utilization review, but how do you make that happen? Everyone wants experience.
