I hate my job

My job is terrible. I got punched in the face a few weeks ago and got in trouble because I didn’t do the restraint documentation, I was deciding if my jaw was broken and if I needed to go to the ER. The hospital I work at is dirty, like they never clean it, there is gunk on the walls, we call house keeping because a patient peed on the floor and they never come. There is no house keeping closet so we can mop the floor ourselves. They got rid of all the CNA’s with a 5:1 ratio. I work nights, and it’s horrible. We will not get our raises, etc this year. I feel patients are not safe. I choose not to work Saturday because I seriously can’t do it. Everyone is on a hiring freeze because of COVID. I guess I need to be thankful I have a job. But one that interferes with everything. In a hospital that doesn’t clean. Eww.

Even though restraint documentation will be a big deal no matter where you are, it sounds like you need a new job fast. Unfortunately because of COVID most places are on hiring freezes which may limit you. However if you truly feel your license is in jeopardy, I wouldn't hesitate.

The restraint documentation was done just not by me.

I hope you notified law enforcement of your assault... if not I would. Hugs

Find another job - no one will be there for you.  Please if you have no personal help go to the law.  Board of nursing will only tell you it was your fault.

You could have stopped after the first sentence and we would have understood. Dang! Start putting out applications. The "freeze" will melt and you'll be the first one on the call list (hopefully).

Sorry to hear your work conditions. Absolutely get out if you can and if you can't do it now, just hang in as best you can until something better comes along. Good luck!

I wish I’d seen this earlier. I’d have told you to quit and do COVID testing and then vaccinations. Those of us who did made bank this past year. And with very low stress.
