Welcome! I am only one month in, but, my best advice is to read and memorize prefixes and suffixes before school starts. The school gave us reading assignments at orientation and I started right away. Do the work books and study guides. They really do help with tests. Good luck!

Congratulations!!!!

I have no advice yet, I'm still waiting to start(we don't start until Feb). What I am doing to prepare though, I have borrowed an a&p book from a lpn who took the same course as I did, and everytime I work with one of the almost graduated lpns, I pick their brains. My bf is laughing at me because I'm studying so much for something that I don't start for 4 more months.

I would buy a nclex pn book right now and start studying! It will give you a good idea of how testing is done in nursing school since its much different than what your prob used to

Thank you guys so much! I am so nervous but so damn excited at the same time! I think I start Jan....4?? I still have to go to a meeting about everything....I do need to brush up on my med term stuff....and I guess I will be reading a bunch from now on...so where does everyone attend school? I got to Georgia Piedmont Technical College (Gptc) in Covington ga...

Only a month in here as well. As for tips, get plenty of REST and try brush up on anything you can, basic algebra, fractions, decimals, systems in the body, pretty much anything and everything you can think of. We have had 16 tests and this week is week 6 (also our first week was orientation so technically this is week five of actual classes). We are doing the skeletal system right now and have learned 100+ bones in just two days! Thankfully, most are duplicates because we have two arms, two legs and so on. Definitely get some rest, I work part time and go to class full time. I am worn out! But it is possible to get good grades, my lowest test grade is a 92 so far, so keep up on all work, and if you don't understand something when you start, ask! The worst thing to do is not ask and get it wrong on a test. I still have a long way to go, but off to a good start! Good luck.

P.S. I go to Otsego Area School of Practical Nursing in upstate New York.

Yes I did and I think I could have done much better than I did. I was not happy with my TEAS score at all. I don't think it's an accurate predictor of how well someone will do in nursing school.

Start memorizing bones and muscles that will help. Also the craniel nerves. I wish I had done that before I started on Aug 20. If you go to [COLOR=#0066cc]www.anatomyarcade.com/it has whack a bone & poke a muscle which is very helpful.

That will help you a lot

congratulations! i just got my acceptance letter today! i know i'm taking my cna prereq class this fall and my a&p 1&2 in the spring, and i start med terminology in a week...i'm just waiting on my packet to be mailed to me with the official dates on my nursing-specific classes. i'm so excited...i'm probably going to start studying a&p on my own now though that way it's easier when it comes time for actual classes. i'm also going to get an nclex-pn book (i've heard good things about kaplan's study guide), my program is 15 months but i figure it's better to study as i go than try to cram it all in right before the test. once i finish this program i'm planning to start an lpn-to-rn program...i know i want to do med-surg and trauma care for awhile, but long-term i want to do l&d...i'm so excited to get to start this! good luck with your program, i hope you have tons of success!

Me either.....I made a 66 which I thought sucked but hey....Im in now so I guess thats all that matters now!
