hello! I am currently the LPN program at GPTC. I like it....its very very hard though. If you are determined you will succeed. This is my last semester....i graduate in dec of this year and omg i cannot wait! Anyways....the pre reqs are listed on the website under practical nursing. I think it is comp1000, math1010 or 1101, psy1010 or 1101, eng1101, and anatomy and phys1010 or something like that. I
I took everything online except a&p. I started in fall of 2009 and finished my pre reqs by fall 2010. I applied for the program and it took me 3 times to get in. in 2010 I had a low GPA of 2.9 then decided to retake courses to get A's in 2011 and then i brought my GPA up to a 3.4....i didnt get in on the second try....but gave it one more try 6 months later and FINALLY.
what an ear full! So basically it all depends on how much stress you can take in one year of pre reqs....and giving up pretty much everything to make a GPA of 4.0 the first time around. really though it is very very hard. I never thought it was going to be like this lol! I do love it so much...it definitely comes with its ups and downs and constant stresses. I wake up everyday feeling like this program is trying to make me fail. No matter how hard I study its never enough. we started with 26 or 27 ppl in Jan of this year....now we are down to 11 or 12! But hard work pays off.....and im sticking to it. On the first week of school they actually sent in a counselor to tell us that we are going to be stressed like we wouldnt believe and that it often leads to divorce in married couples. They also told us if our relationships arent strong, and if we arent 150% sure this is what we really want...then we need to go home. I felt the need to tell you this because no one told me how serious it was. Oh and just to let you know...the teachers are great and the LPN program at this school actually teaches an RN curriculum...(so i was told) and they said they do it because they want us to be ahead of other LPNs and it makes it an easier transition to LPN to RN bridge. I am thankful for that!! Well anyways...feel free to contact me here anytime. If you have any other questions ill do my best to help you. Good luck to you!
