"I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to The University of Akron Graduate School. A formal letter of admission has been mailed to you reflecting your admit status, as well as any additional requirements that may have been placed on your admission (i.e. requests for final transcripts, degree conferral, English proficiency etc.). It is important that you read this letter thoroughly and fulfill all contingencies listed. "

.................No interview? I'm in, just like that? Akron's a pretty good school....it kind of surprises me.....anyone have any words of wisdom?

No way- I know that school and their interview process- I have friends who have been through it and it is a rough interview

Any tips for the interview??

I have not interviewed there myself. My best friend just graduated from there. Here interview as I've heard about from others.. very clinical.... went as far as the the lipid solubility of a particular drug and how that determines it's effect and particular receptors. Also a written test. If you have a chance to go speak with the director before your interview-- you can use that as practice b/c he will drill you in that too! It's rough and the thought of interviewing there scared the crap out of me just thinking about it! Good Luck! I know many students prep for the interview with the book - Hemodynamic Monitoring by Gloria Darovic-- I would say know your drugs and the receptors they work on.

I interviewed at Akron last year. Their interview is VERY difficult. First you take a clinical test-similar to CCRN certification. Then, they grade the test and use your answers to trip you up during the interview. Four faculty including the Director, Assistant Director and two others. Akron is very critical about who they let in, a little much considering they are only a good program, not a great program. I heard that they lost their program certification some time in the last 10 years or so, which is why they are so demanding of their applicants. There are other better schools out there, don't put all of your eggs in one basket.

I experienced the same thing at WSU in Detroit. In my case, the admission to the grad school and the CRNA program were two seperate things.

I found out a couple of weeks after the grad school letter that I also had an interview for the program. Follow up for sure, as the previous writers have advised. Good Luck!!
