Room air general
I was just wandering exactly this term implied-my instructor mentioned it when talking about titrating drugs to effect in a MAC case. I'm guessing meaning you don't want the patient to the point of a general sedation if their airway is not properly protected.

I got accepted, but I'm confused
I have not interviewed there myself. My best friend just graduated from there. Here interview as I've heard about from others.. very clinical.... went as far as the the lipid solubility of a particular drug and how that determines it's effect and particular receptors. Also a written test. If you have a chance to go speak with the director before your interview-- you can use that as practice b/c he will drill you in that too! It's rough and the thought of interviewing there scared the crap out of me just thinking about it! Good Luck! I know many students prep for the interview with the book - Hemodynamic Monitoring by Gloria Darovic-- I would say know your drugs and the receptors they work on.

How valuable is community service?
I think it can be helpful especially if you are fighting some undesirables in your application. I went this route-- I'm sure it isn't what got me into school-but can't hurt! Many graduate schools are hoping you will stay in the area of where you trained-and of course they would like to have good citizen as part of their community.

Charlotte?
From my personal experience with UNC and the anesthesia program too -- you have to stay on top of things- don't wait for them to contact you- follow-up

Schools Not Requiring Chemistry
If you have a BSN-- you should have taken chemistry-- isn't that part of the requirements? I don't see any advantage to a school saying you don't have to have chemistry. As a matter of fact-- I took post-bac chemistry courses and feel this helped me get into school. Chemistry plays a huge part in our educations so it doesn't make sense for a school to not have it as a requirement. To get the answer you are seeking -- you might want to explain why you are even asking in the first place-- as evidenced by all the previous posts- it's an important part

Any students using the tablet pc's in class to take notes-- they seem so cool but wondering if I'll really use it or if it will be a technical disaster in class

Pls. Help Meeeeee!!!!!!
One more thing about retaking courses... depending on how many courses you have taken.. you will be amazed how hard it is to raise the gpa.... it is very discouraging.. but retake them anyway... I repeated the whole first year of Chemistry -- over the summer 10 weeks--it really wasn't bad, earned A's... I also took advanced cardiovascular physiology, advanced physiology, organic chem for science majors and physics for science majors.--- You have got to get A's though-- maybe a B but the A's will be best of course-- YOU CAN DO IT

PERSISTENCE,PERSISTENCE yes take science courses... particulary Chemistry... spend time with a CRNA make sure it is what u want to do, look at all the schools there are some schools who accepts 2.75, 2.8 when u talk to people at the school... focus on how u are a different student now and have the grades to prove it!
