I interviewed for 11S TCU at UPMC Montifiore several weeks ago and received my call that I was offered the job last week! I thought for sure that I didn't get it. I'm so excited! My start date is July 6th. I have one week of general orientation and then I will be paired up with my preceptor for a while. Is anyone else starting on July 6th? My general orientation is actually at Shadyside. Maybe we can sit together 'cause I'm nervous! For all those GNs waiting to hear about a job from UPMC don't lose hope. I interviewed April 14th and just heard last week. It can take some time to let you know about the job!Michelle 0 Likes

ShelbyMaser Jun 4, 2009 Congrats!! I currently work on 12S so one floor above as a PCT :-) good luck on orientation and don't stress out too much, take it one day at a time. I see lots of new nurses here and they feel so overloaded with work. The whole point is to learn, so do the best you can, and eventually you will do great.Just curious, where did you go for your undergrad? I currently go to Pitt. 0 Likes

I graduate August 21 and I am supposed to start September 14 and the time crunch scares me.Also, has UPMC converted to all white scrubs yet? Ugh. I am going to look like a marshmallow. 0 Likes

Keri8680, BSN, RN Specializes in Cardiology/Telemetry. Has 2 years experience. Jun 26, 2009 I can't be sure, according to PA they will issue your tpp with just the form completed by ur nursing director and not the transcripts, which happened in my case (they still havent received my transcripts but i do have my tpp already) Just give that form to your nursing director the day you take your final exam (and find out that you've passed) and they can send it in that day for you and PA boards will be sure to have it even before your graduation, so they can at least work on processing it. Hope that helps. 0 Likes

K98 Specializes in He who hesitates is probably right.... Jul 12, 2009 My daughter works at a UPMC facility. The staff RNs wear white, critical care (ICU) and OR wear ceil blue. I don't know that it's necessary for nurses to wear white to identify them as nurses, but it would be nice if hospitals limited the wearing of scrubs to staff involved in direct patient care. I see housekeeping, distribution, supply, etc. wearing scrubs and people have a tough time identifying medical staff at times. 0 Likes
