today was the last day of clinical for ob. all the other students worked on post-partum and nursery but i got to go to nicu ! the other students were complaining all day about not being over to go to nicu and they kept asking me why i got to go... the instructor and i just kept telling them that they were too busy( which they were). as the instructor was walking down to nicu she told me i got to go to nicu because i have showed compotency in clinical and i pretty much got every thing down packed in this rotation.
i felt very honored. she says she only select certain students to go and that made me feel good. personally, i believe all of my fellow nursing students classmates should of had a chance to go, but i'm sure when they become nurses they may have that chance. ofcourse i didn't brag to them about it like i'm doing now, but honestly i worked very hard and i deserved to go.
(I just read your other post about the NICU Nurse 'lecturing' you and I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you had to listen to all of that.)
Thanks ! I guess I'm jumping all over the place on allnurses ! lol. Yeah, even though she got under my skin I still tried to make the best of my experience at NICU.
Congratulations! It's so good to read positive posts about nursing school or anything nursing for that matter. This is the type of encouragement we pre-nursing students need to hear. Keep up the good work!!
