  1. I'm so sorry to hear that heartbroken. That's not fair and it scares me now! Ahhh!
  2. I just got the call for a full time offer yesterday around 3:15pm. That was after a 5.5w wait since my interview. I can finally breathe!
  3. Are you serious? $27/hr for a NEW nurse? Where? And how expensive is living there? B/c I will get less then $20/hr to work as a new nurse. BIG difference. Living is cheap here.
  4. Isn't that the truth! I'm too poor and too lazy to formula feed my kids!
  5. Can you job shadow an NP? I had to job shadow an advanced nurse so I went to the lady who does my yearly exams...ha. It worked, I got the answers I needed. :)
  6. Yeah, it's defiantly a different situation. Both DH & I are in school together. (He's got a bac in psychology, a bac in criminal justice, a cert in dental tech, and soon RN and his goal is Nurse Anesthetist.) I still am shocked that at the age of 24 I've been married 1/3 of my life!! We have the best boys, Erik is about 6.5 and Jack just turned 3. Here are a couple pics of us. I loveee pics! Me & DH, pics taken at Jcpennys...we grad in may. http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb85/the_thomas_4/?action=view&current=GradPics0915.jpg My loves! http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb85/the_thomas_4/Pennysgood14.jpg
  7. I have applied to one hospital and only put that I wanted to work on ONE floor. I put application in on a Friday and got a call the following Monday. I had an interview about a week later. (This past Tue) I should hear w/in a month if I got the job. It's where I go to school at and it's the floor I'm currently on. The drive is about 45mins which stinks but I like the idea of staying at the hospital I'm comfortable with till I "get" nursing a little more. Pay for GN $19.57. Pass the boards $19.57 $2000 sign on bonus Benefits are good and insurance is cheaper for my family then we are paying now.
  8. Yes, it was 8yrs last month. I also turned 24 last month. Married at 16. I'm not what people consider "normal" in any way.
  9. Do you know what they pay graduate nurses in your area? At the hospital where I am going to school pays graduate nurses the same as a start nurse. $19.57. I'm not sure if this is common practice to start GN's off the same as a nurse who has sat/passed the boards.
  10. All I know is I went from getting an A in Anatomy and a B in Phys (my 1st B in my pre reqs) and now in Nursing School I average B's at the end of the semester. (I do get some C's on tests) BTW, 79% is failing in Nursing.
  11. lovenandj, I wanted to tell you great job on breastfeeding! I'm all for BFing (wanting to become a LC). I started doing Pre-reqs when I was 7m PG, only going 1 day a week and only took less then a week off school. I haven't stopped school and I'm about to graduate this May. I nursed my little guy for over 2yrs, he never got formula. I either pumped or was around to nurse him. Ahhh, I miss bfing, sigh! Great Job Mama!
  12. We currently have 4 students pg in my class. Well one, is a guy so he's not pg but his gf is. The one student is due the week of graduation so she is 30w now and already dilating and ctxing. She is on modified bedrest and I'm pretty sure she won't be able to finish. I would wait. I really want another baby, I have a 6yr old and a 3yr old. I'm 24, married 8yrs and I'm dying for another. But I'm dying to start my career also so I know it has to wait. I think 28 is a great age to start a family!! You will have your career going and your life straightened out. Me and my husband (both in NS together) are doing things totally backwards and while it works, it's not ideal and it makes things harder. I see the people in class who don't have kids and they breeze by a lot easier then those of us with kiddos. GL in whatever you decide. :)
  13. Under $20 for New Castle Pa for a new nurse.
  14. My sister got her about a month ago. She starts this fall at the same school I attend.
  15. At the hospital where I go to school at they are trying to recruit us like crazy! I got a phone call for an interview 3 days after I put my application in. I've already had one interview. I plan to apply at other places also but I don't see why I won't get the job I interviewed for already.
