could I get in the nursing program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

If any one can give me advice on this issue I have at school I had a D when I started school and I had a d last semester well I know there is no excuse for having D's and well honestly the first one I was overwhelmed with classes and the second one I had stuff going on. I was told that I can not apply to a nursing program with 2 d's because they are a failing grade and therefore can not apply to the nursing program at my college until 5 years. I was wondering if any one knows what I could do and I would not like to give up on not being a nurse because that is what I have always wanted to do. what should I do? is there any tech colleges that would accept me now? I have all the prerequisites for the program am just finishing up and re taking the one from last semester.

I find myself in a similar predicament. I made a D in a gov't class yet I fill the other requirements making As & Bs in the rest of my courses. I have already applied to at least 3 nursing programs does that mean that I may not get into any of the programs that I applied to??

Doesn't matter what class you made a D in. You made a D, that's all they will see. You may have a chance at getting in, but most programs require you to have made a C or better in all your prerequisites.

There are probably some tech schools that would accept you into an LPN or ASN program, but chose carefully.

I wouldn't be so sure about getting into even an ASN program with 2 D's. The program I was in was very rigorous and the lowest GPA of the last person accepted was 3.5. Just because it's an ASN program, does not mean it holds lower standards than programs at a university.

I don't see what the D's were in. If you got them in history or something, that doesn't really matter. Look at the schools you're applying to. I am applying to two programs that don't mentioned any classes but A&P and Micro. So see what's really important to your schools. If the D's are in these two classes then YES you will not get into any program, and I'm sure you want those grades to be A's anyway since they are the stepping stone to the classes.

Again, I say, they will see the two D's in prerequisite courses and that will weigh heavy on their decision. The OP is likely going against others who scored higher than D's in the same courses. Also, again, a lot of nursing programs require you to make C's in your prerequisite courses.

I flunked out of a university my first semester thought I could never recover my cumulative GPA is now 3.4. I am not the best canidate, but I am hoping to have it up to that 3.5 range by the time I apply. Retake the classes you got Ds in, and get As it will help your GPA, and show you have grown up a little. I had major health issues back then still do, but I no longer use it as an excuse.

I don't want to be mean. How about you learn to write in proper sentences first? That will help people to take you more seriously.

No need to be so harsh about it.
