Hi everyone! This was my 4th time to take the RN test and I passed it finally!!:yeah:I answered 75 questions, took about 2 hours, 4 select all that apply, one calculation, and alot of priority questions such as who to see first, and infection control. I took Kaplan along time ago but I failed twice. I finally used Saunder's and purchased Kaplan Qbank. For me, those two materials helped me pass this time. I recommend using Saunder's book, do about 3500 questions on the cd, and get kaplan qbank (I know it's expensive but it's worth it!). And finally, keep praying...Don't ever give up because God IS always watching us and his plan is greater than ours. To those who have failed their tests, please don't give up because your time will come!No matter how many times you take it, just continue to study, spend your time wisely, and do as many questions as you can. I think I've done a total of about 4500-5000 questions total and it really helped.
I can't believe I did it!!!!I'm from california and I was about to think that I failed after not seeing my name after 3 days. My name came up online after a week. I was out of state having a vacation and my classmate called me to tell me that my name was posted!!!!Tears just started to run down my cheeks and I couldn't stop saying thank you to everyone who supported me, especially to God for making it happen :) I FEEL SO GOOOOD!!!This is really an unexpected and best christmas gift for me!!!Thanks for reading my long story but I'm just so excited to share it to everyone!!Happy holidays!!!!I feel like doing the monkey dance:rotfl::monkeydance:
Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear that you finally did it. Now would you please pray for me, because I graduated from nursing school 11 years ago and took my nclex about 4 times and failed each time. I am getting ready to start studying again but I am not feeling very confident. You just motivated me and let me know that there is still hope for me. I do have the saunder's book along with the cd. I hope it helps me. I will take my time and study as many questions as I can. I'm not going to set a date for myself this time. Good luck in your future endeavors and I appreciate your enthusiasm. Keep me in your prayers and I know that God's plan for me is much bigger than I can ever imagine. Thanks for the support.

It's been two years for me since I took the NCLES. Guess what..............God is in charge of our destiny. We just have to equip ourselves. I want to share my testimony. In 2003, I decided after being a healthcare executive for almost 15 years to finally seek out my dream of becoming an RN. Anyhow, I enrolled in an accelerated program which nearly killed me but made me stronger. You see this University touted their NCLEX pass rates but did not advertise the fact that no matter how high your GPA really is you must pass the HESI Exit Exam. When I first heard this in the first semester, I joked with my cohort and said guys I will never graduate if I must pass some HESI. Guys and Gals it got messy with me for the HESI. I need to mention that I worked 40 hours a week on the weekends to cover my expenses while going to school full-time. I maintained a 3.3 GPA all the way. Anyhow, the time came to take this HESI. I failed it four times. I nearly passed twice being within a few points but the University Nursing Faculty would not allow me to graduate. Now let me point out this was over the course of a year that I had graduated at least finished the coursework. I could not pass it. Finally, the renegade in me decided to fight. I wrote a letter week to anyone who would listen to me. I had all kinds of community people calling the University. I met with President and Provost but they supported the Nursing Leadership. I even contacted the state board of nursing. They did get involved. Finally, by God's grace I started to go to one of the other school's campuses to prepare. Anyway, I found a whole heap of other students in the same situation. I got a petition going. We sat for the exam again. Anyhow, I got news that I had passed. I do not believe that I really passed but they probably became annoyed. The other point I forgot to mention is that I even met with the Dean for the School of Nursing. My employer got involved too because this same nursing school was trying to cut a deal to train our workforce by means of their program. They had forgotten who I was in the real world.
Anyway, after all that I did sit for the exam in November 05 but I did not pass because I was already so demoralized and sleep deprived. I then landed a big executive job and decided not to sit for the exam again. Anyway, I am exploring roles in nursing leadership so I have to take the exam. Plus, I want to practice because I miss caring for patients. Although, my family, friends and colleagues use me as their private nurse.
Anyway, I share all that to say that we are more than conquerors. No matter how many times you have to take the NCLEX remember you have the degree. In the appointed time we will be released to be RNs. I have learned that sometimes we have to go through some things before we can truly accomplish what we want because if we got it at that moment we may not even appreciate.

congratulations on passing! i know exactly how you feel. i took the exam for the third time on tuesday dec. 11. it's been 4 days and my name still hasn't shown up on the Ca board website. What makes it more frustrating is that a friend of mine took it the same day and his name already showed up. it is a bit comforting for me to know that your name showed up after a week. if i don't pass this time, i will try the program you listed on your post and hopefully that will help me pass (should i test out for a 4th time). again, congratulations on successfully completing what probably is the hardest test of your life!

I just found out from a friend that she was told by staff members of UOP that the passing rate is very low. The BON are mandating UOP to
provide study progams for their students and student who have failed the nclex. I have also learn that other colleges are doing the same to help students pass. I failed it twice. I think the nclex is more intense and that we need help in passing.
I have to weigh on this situation. I believe we have a situation. I think that there is more of a reason why the raised the standards has to do with money. You see the more times you fail, the more times you have to pay NCLEX fees. This is fine but the nursing schools are not equipped to ensure that we perform well. Also, this generates money for the HESI company so schools now invest in the program to improve their NCLEX pass rates. Its a vicious cycle. I wish I had an audience because I would sure infuse a great debate. Maybe I should start a blog and a petition to pressure NCSBN.
