I finally got into dialysis with Davita

I finally got into Davita as an acute dialysis nurse after trying for over a year, but the pay is so low. I am wondering if it is worth doing it for the experience and then I can stay or move on. I have been an RN for 15 years having done med/surg/cardiac tele/OR/homecare. Is it normal for pay to be so low because of no dialysis experience? Thanks in advance for your responses!

I have been an RN for 16 years. I make $25/hr at Davita, the pay isn't great, but I wanted the dialysis experience. I can go elsewhere or travel and make better money once I have a year in and I am almost there.

You gotta be kidding. 16 yrs and making $25/hr? And in dialysis? Lol! Some of these commentators are not for real.

Sorry to burst your bubble jayjaybsnrn but I certainly do make $25/hr with all my experience and I am most certainly for real. Davita pays squat at least in my area, but they have no problem paying the big bucks to travlers.

That's really low. I've heard of nurses making 22-23 in the south but wow that's surprising.

If you get into dialysis and like it, then hang in there. Once you get that 1 year of fundamental experience your market value goes up because you require so much less training.

I just got hired at davita, I am a dialysis nurse outside US for almost 3 years, my starting rate is 33$ the time and half after 8.. to divide it up.. I get 38.50/hour
