So bottom line-minus the whining and complaining is this: I have a C in microbiology and I don't think that's good enough.
Okay, so here's the rest of the whining and complaining:
I have a B in every prerequisite science class right now, and I don't feel like that's going to get me through. I'm competing with 4.0 students, for highly impacted programs, and I see their grades in the classes compared to mine, and it kills me.
The other day I was contemplating on changing majors, but to be honest, I can't think of a better major for me than nursing. It's what I truly want to do.
But these grades are telling me otherwise, and as hard as I study, go to tutoring, have study groups, and take notes, I fear that it'll all go down the drain.
So I guess I'm looking for people out there that can send a little hope that has been trough something similar. A lot of people here complain about having one grade away from straight A's, so that may not be the best application to my situation.
And if you did manage to read this whole rant, let me thank you. Honestly, thank you.

I understand. I competing in a program where you basically need to get all A's in the classes they look at to get in. I have a 91 in A&P II right now and I am so scared of doing poorly on the final and my grade being a B and me not getting in the RN program. I study as much as I can but this past month has been horribly busy for me. Two weeks until finals and I am feeling the pressure. I am just ready for the semester to be over.

Ok, so when did you steal my brain?
No. Seriously.
I feel that way all the time, except I'm still barely hanging onto my A's in Micro and AP1. However, the rest of my grades have been stuck at B's. I look at all these people who are upset about one lower than A grade, and it's insane. It's what has made me rethink my goals. I'm retaking classes over the winter, and I'm taking over a full semester next semester. I'm overwhelming myself to try and get into this.
Have you thought about travelling? Or maybe a career school? Those are usually really expensive, BUT they have easier admission processes.
Good luck!

While Nursing School can be very competitive, remember that some schools may have a different system in place. The one I go to has a points system for becoming a "qualified applicant" and everyone that meets a certain minimum standard is qualified. It doesn't mean you can slack off, but you get some built-in room for having a class not be all that agreeable with you. They have a number of ways you can reach their minimum of 65 points. Once you're in the random selection pool, it no longer matters if you're minimally or maximally qualified... you're still qualified, so you're really just competing against yourself to become a qualified applicant.
Also, apply everywhere you can. The more you apply, the more likely it is that you get accepted into a program. Just make sure that the program is approved by the BRN and that they have decent NCLEX pass rates.

Have you considered apply to a community college nursing program? In my area it's a lottery so as long as you meet the requirements you will have the same chance as everyone else.

It may be a lot of 4.0s .. But just look at how many spots are open I'm the program .. Your grades do not mean you can't get it . Another thing , I rather you apply to another BSN program than an asn one . Why go backwards when you can find a program to transfer Into. Many programs , if you have a 2.5 or higher , wl a good grade on the entrance exam , you qualify . Apply to your program && others , even an asn program , have back-ups , best wishes future nurse : )

If you don't make the cut for your BSN program which I'm assuming that you are currently attempting you may want to check out your local community colleges and apply there then you can always bridge to complete the BSN which you will have already completed the needed pre reqs its always an option I totally understand where you are coming from with not feeling like you make the cut till you get your letter.

If your struggling this hard in required classes for nursing school... well... not sure what to tell you it gets A LOT harder. Personally I found them super easy (i study night before chem/micro exam and im over 100% in both)
Maybe you just have to sink more time into it. Otherwise you need to find what works for you because a B/C in required classes (the effort it takes to get these grades) will assuredly get you failed out of nursing school.

Good day:
Have you talked to your professor as to what you can do to increase your grade? Have you talked with anyone in your schools learning / tutoring center to see what you could be doing differently? While the time to seek help is after the very first test you don't get the grade you desired, it's not to late to start now.
Thank you.

This is the exact reason why more nursing schools are adopting interviews into their selection process, to find real sincere people who want to do this. Nursing is not just about having a 4.0 and academic world is slowly realizing this.
